It's actually because he hasn't been a member for long enough.

Perhaps an Admin could authorise PM privileges in this case?

You must be getting ITV C4 & C5 from the channels still on the widebeams. Those are definite possibilities to switch over to 1N.

The rest of the Sky encrypted stuff - anyones guess whats going to happen with them although I would expect them to stay on the widebeams.

How far the widebeams will stretch eastwards once the new Astra series 2's come into service is debatable and we wont know until the end of the year.

I have heard this rumour twice . People saying silly things like we will lose all sky by June. I find that highly unlikely as They can't cram all the channels from the other 3satellites onto 1N. Who told you this and who told them ?

Well,we have pulled them up higher than that ,when its not windy . If you have a flat side to the building with no obstructions like air condition units or balconies then it could be pulled up by rope. Otherwise we would have to hire a fork lift.I might have to pay a visit first unless you can send photo of the building. There is a 3m dish available in Limassol. I will work out a priceand PM you.
hi all !!
zorbas pls m8 what do you expect to catch in Cyprus with a 3m dish?
i give you same help just look this foto with 5m dish not far from you (just in Crete)
timo_w2s
Also ITV2 HD, ITV3 HD and ITV4 HD are available on the north beam as pay channels if you have an HD subscription. I've never watched those channels but I believe sometimes some programmes may not be available on those channels due to rights, but I may be wrong.
cyprus and Crete are in space m8!! the only signal with 5m dish and up are sky news HD transpoder and espn HD jast for 3 hours on 24 , 21.00-01.00 then they're gone.
my first post!!

Thanks for the reply. The source was a friend of mine, whose satellite man rang her up to warn her that this may be going to happen. With all the recent changes (losses?) I guess it does not take much to start a panic.

I also meant to mention that we have been getting reasonable results with a VPN to view BBC, and 'recorded' ITV. By reasonable I mean better than nothing. Picture quality on the iplayer is not great but it is watchable.

Welp, that's the first successful reception report we've had from Cyprus for 1N. Astronomically sized dish though.

During my black periods(no tv) I have used myiplayer desktop player , needs no vpn is free and passable picture quality. If you google myiplayer and go to the forum and register, then download the latest player(and vlc mediaplayer also free) it works fine at the moment. Where possible i use the VLC mode as more stable and I suspect in not too many months we in spain will be back in the same situation as the people in cyprus and I will be using it again. Hope this helps at least some people.

hello cypress,
up to now, they have always had 4 or 5 satellites co located and each one covers 16 to 18 transponders.
each transponder may carry 10 to 15 tv channels standard deff.
one satellite to carry 80 to 90 transponders to carry the whole platform i have never seen it.
the 1N replaced the 2D and all the free view was switched to the new platform.
i think for now there is no way all 4 satellites at the 28 degree location will move to 1 N.
Now other replacement satellites for the other satellites that may happen a few years down the road now that is to be seen.

If I recall correctly 1N is 56 transponders.

Theres no "may happen" about it - the new satellites are under construction and scheduled for launch

Yes, it is too early to know.

There is specualation that $ly will use the wide beam transponders but no-one knows for sure.
