Well all is still well for me also, I have been watching non-popup ITV-1, Ch4 & Ch5 for weeks now.

Have the BBC done a deal/Sky been told to hang on a few more months??

Anyone any ideas, I have been thinking about getting Freeview but would like to wait as long as possible + get the best box at that time.

Fingers crossed - mine's still going strong. Only downside is that it takes away the excuse for getting "Pout Uncut"... (not that I would want to watch it of course ;-)

Ian..

Whats the latest on your pout card...

As I understand it, getting a pout card is one way of getting the (previously) FTV channels, ITV, chan 4 & chan 5.
Is that still the case?
Does your pout card still allow reception of the FTV channels & how long ago did you get it?

Anyone else got any info on this method of getting/regaining the FTV channels?

Ta..

Sorry, Alec (I don't know why I said Ian) but that last post should really have been addressed to Easysat

No problem.
But as I'm writing I can confirm that my FTA card is still going strong - from yesterday's news it looks as if a solution is likely.

Rupert - with his weeks of spoiler banners - and Pout must have profited mightily in the meantime though. Still not enough excuse to get authorisation for a Pout card I'm afraid ;-(

Yes, but I also have a couple of digiboxes that don't have any FTV cards.

If paying £10 registration & £4 for one night, gets a digibox back up and receiving the original FTV channels, then maybe thats a better option than more waiting for something more official to happen, - its already almost 3 months since the issue of FTV cards from the BBC stopped.

But to make that decision I'd be interested in any info on
1) which adult channels provide a card, rather than doing the subscription on the back of an existing sky subsciption
2) How they compare on price, ie whats the cheapest option
& 3) any other info from anyone thats taken that route to regain the FTV channels.

Grateful for any factual information..

Thanks all

Neil

I've got a couple of FTV cards obtained by the failed on-line POUT registration method. These were obtained at the beginning of September and both are working fine (ITV, Ch 4 and Ch 5 as well as the Sky customer information channels). So far I haven't had a charge on my credit card statement, so maybe the cards are free. I tried again for a another card at the end of September but so far this hasn't produced a replacement card.

Perhaps they have already rewritten the software line that said:
if (card_number == series1_number)
{send out new series 2 card for free}
!!

Incidentally the cards seem to be sent out direct from the NDS plant in Maidenhead where I assume they are configured because they have a Slough postage-paid mark. The card comes with a pre-paid envelope to send the 'faulty' old card back to the "Quality Department" at an unnamed Maidenhead address so I presume they go back to NDS. If so the quality department must be snowed under with perfectly good series 1 FTV cards.

Hmm, now what seems to be the problem?

When you pout, your original card turns off,and so far the only series 1 cards to turn off have been these.Did we jump before we was pushed?.The cards that are returned are de-activated,so are no good to anybody...............brian

Still may work out cheaper than any other new card issue Brian, I still reckon that the old cards will be turned off, can't see them simulcrypting for long.

Yes, they've been deactivated by Sky but they were perfectly good cards beforehand. This is what makes me think that the Pout method worked because of an oversight by someone when they set-up the system software. The quality department at NDS may be interested in studying cards which have failed in normal use but they certainly can't be interested in studying cards that have been turned off by Sky's computer systems.

I hate to state the obvious, but we probably won't know until it happens, the notice has been given, so they could do it any time.
