Hey everyone, my dad just bought a sattelite setup, and needs my help setting things up. I have Linux experience, however I have never dabbled in sattelite TV before.

We're using a Vu+ Solo 4K, connected straight to a Inverto Unicable II LNB (IDLU-32UL40-UNBOO-OPP) via the LNB 2 port.

We've been trying to get it working for a while, to no avail.

The LNB is successfully recieving ~13V, and is pointed in the correct direction.

All I've done with the Vu+ box (besides fruitlessly messing with the tuner options) is install the latest version of Black Hole over the default software.

Any help is appreciated!

Welcome to the Forum.

Have you installed and aligned the dish yourself?

How do you know it's correctly aligned? ("Pointing in the right direction" isn't meaningful without evidence to back it up!)

My father used a Labgear Sattelite Finder to confirm the alignment.

Well, I'm just not sure how to set the receiver to actually watch TV from the satellites.

You have Black Hole Image on the box, as long as you have managed to get the box on your home network you can download channel settings via the addons. Green Button > Yellow Button.
Once you have installed the settings you can see if you have set up the tuner configuration and aligned your dish correctly.

What satellite are you trying to 'find?' That's not a trick question; there are many satellites and a good indication on a satellite finder doesn't identify which one you're pointing at.

I do not have an up to date version however this shows the satellites on the Clarke Curve viewable from the UK, some years ago, easy to think you are on one but it is anothersatarc.jpg

I'm not quite sure how this is done, I don't see anything in the "addons" menu that looks like it relates to this.

We want to connect to Astra 28.2E, and we've aligned it as such.

Does receiver need special setup for a Unicable LNB?

We want to connect to Astra 28.2E, and we've aligned it as such.
It's not that easy to align a satellite dish to Astra 2, 28.2E, unless you've done it before.
All a cheap satellite meter will tell you is that your dish is picking up a signal, and allow you to fine tune the dish, providing you use it correctly.
Can you please tell us how you aligned the dish? Have you aligned a satellite dish before?
You state that you are using Tuner B, on your VU+ Solo 4K, is this correct?
SOLO-4K-rear with hybrid tuner.jpg

Have you tried scanning in any other satellites, in case you are aligned to 23.5E, 19.2E, or a different satellite?
If possible try setting your receiver up on a different dish, a friends, neighbors, or relatives, that you know is aligned to 28.2E, and scan in some channels.

As you do not indicate that knowledge to adjust the parabolic antenna you have, flip the subject.
But we did not read, first thing, you bought the programmed LNB already or not.

The question is strange, but it is very important, that LNB is programmable and the programmer is very expensive.
Confirm with the store where you bought the LNB this point, it is very important, if by default brings the configuration that is indicated in the web of inverted, we can continue, but if it is not configured, it is a problem.
When you confirm this point we continue.

For companions, with this LNB are not worth the satfinder, pitofonos and/or field meters normal.
------------------

With that LNB, that is not possible.
You would have a normal LNB, he confirms.
The tuner to adjust the antenna / LNB you can use a normal LNB without problems, already adjusted the antenna, you change the LNB by the unicable and ready.

Do not forget to ask in the store if the LNB has the manufacturer's website programming.
In Madrid consult and had to ask for it programmed, implying that it came without programming, the programmer is worth more than 200€uros.
-------------

Si tienes dudas y lo puedes cambiar, pide el modelo/If you have doubts and you can change it, ask the model...40€ mas portes.
Megasat Diavolo Unicable 2 SCR LNB Einkabel HDTV 0,1dB bis 24 Teilnehmer

To configure the receiver you have (VU + Solo4K image Openspa similar BH) with normal LNB, this is the configuration.

Change Astra a 19'2ºE ==> Astra a 28'2ºE...OK
Tuner B, configured as a loop/connected to Tuner A.
The others are left in automatic, important.

---------------

Cambia Astra a 19'2ºE ==> Astra a 28'2ºE...OK

-----------
When you have the antenna / LNB well adjusted to the Astra satellite at 28'2ºE, this is the unicable configuration, solved, rest the same.

For months look for one of 8 unicable and nothing.
The unicable LNB of 8 years ago they stopped making, 2 and 4 without problems, jump to 24, 32 and 256, but 8 is not easy, some old remnant maybe.
By the way the 24 (40 €) I comment is cheaper than the 4 unicable + 2 legacy (normal LNB ) that costs 70 €.
-----------------

PS: Sorry translations.

That is a problem, if there is no care (skip this):-doh
By default the antenna in A / Tuner1 is always better.
As we only have one satellite, we will not have problems.

To find channels we can select the tuner we want to use, but it will be easy to confuse us if we are not careful and can not find channels.
When watching / recording channels, you will first use Tuner1 / A.

The receiver will use the tuner as it is busy starting with the Tuner A / 1 provided.

With normal LNB, the change is instantaneous, with unicable, it will take a second if you change from tuner to a new one, indicating without signal, it is normal, the new tuner sends DiSEqC signals to communicate with the LNB, this responds by activating the new communications channel SCR / frequency, so take a few seconds.

The LNB only sends the SRC in use, all frequencies are off / SRC, they are activated at the request of the receiver.
--------------------
