Now, how do i get zone alarm to handle it. Keeps blocking.

I have added 192.168.04 as trusted but still wont? Any ideas?

You need to let Zone Alarm trust the IP:192.168.0.24

thats what you have your Dreambox is set as, not 192.168.0.4, thats the PC

Good luck

Can you not set a range for ZA to trust...
such as 192.168.0.1 - 192.168.0.100

other than that, check that the windows FW is off

Start> connect to> show all connections

right mouse click the dial up connection or whatever you internet connection is...
Properties> advanced tab...

untick the very top tick box ..protect my computer etc etc then click OK

might not be that.... just making sure though

as for card sharing, cant help there mate ive never tried it
but im sure one of the other regulars will be along to help :)

Get rid of Zone Alarm and replace it with AVG- it causes a lot less hassle ;)

I am not surprised it is less hassle they are completely different things
Zone alarm is firewall software and AVG is antivirus software

Thanks.

I tried adding a range, but no luck. Still blocked it. When i connect (i.e press the blue button) it comes up as blocked connection showing IP of D'Box and Port 53 at end. Why 53?

Later found out you cannot specify port to allow with Zone Alarm Free Version.

I was gonna say same thing, AVG is Virus Checker.

Any other good freeware firewalls, that will enable me to allow my Dreambox connection.

If using XP SP2 you may be blocked by the windows firewall as well

Still had no luck with Zone Alarm and have tried Agnitum as well, both will not allow me to connect to my dreambox, without turning it off.

When trying to connect the firewall show the IP of my box with a port at the end. Do I have to allow that port? It seems to be 53 although my box is set to 80.

Anyone know of good Free Firewall that will allow me to configure, to aloww my dreambox to connect to the net.

Many thanks

port 53 is used for DNS; in ZA there are some sliders for security, one is internet zone or something like that - the other for your network. Turn the one that isn't internet zone down to a lower level and try again.

then the DB should be able to get to the internet and look up what it's trying to find.

you'd find it much easier with a router - how do you connect to the internet? USB ADSL modem?

Thanks Lee, that was very helpfull.

Yes, I do use a USB Modem.

I was thinking of getting a router a few days ago. Can you recomend one?

I saw a Belkin one, Wireless Modem and router in one for About £55.
