Sorry mate, whats a subnet?

I've been messing about with this for 2 days now and tried so many different things.

Am I supposed to be using a crossover cable from PC to box thats it?

Look at the picture I have posted, it shows the ip address and the subnet mask.

To see what you have for your dreambox, go into setup, expert setup, Communication setup, then set an ip address in the same range as your PC and make sure that the subnet is the same. Untick DHCP.

As gateway, put the address of your PC.

Please just stick to one thread as this is related to your other thread?

I was just asking if there was another way. ie. using the controller like you can on a Dbox2

Rolfk - have a look at the other thread that I posted on. I've been tryin this for days. i must just be doing something wrong or I'm not getting thr right information as i'm not very good at explaining myself in 'computer terms' (i'm learning though!)

If you have a camera, take a photo of the communication page on the Dreambox and then a screen grab of your ipconfig on the computer. Post them in this thread and we will have a better idea of what might be wrong.

For the third time: the PC connects to the Dreambox with a crossover cable.

A modem cable and a CAT5 cable are a different size.

Have you tried _http://support.microsoft.com/kb/306126 ?

OK, you need to change your Dreambox IP to 82.6.104.2 and the subnet mask to 255.255.252.0 and the gateway address and nameserver to 82.6.104.1

Think I'm gonna have to give up on it as I have wasted 3 nights of my life and got know where.

I'll have to get another Dbox2 instead.

Did you see my message #16?

I connected my 500 to a friend's computer last week and was surprised at how easy it was.

Don't give up!!!!

I hate admitting defeat but I must be doing 1 little thing wrong as I have followed all the instructions. It should be easy, my Dbox2 is easy but for some reason just can't connect !

right, my mate just brought round his Dbox and I have done that no problems as well.

Tried the Dreambox again, no joy.

I think it must be the Communication Settings.

What do Nameserver and Gateway etc need to be set at ??
