Anyone with Super Aguri members in the team may want to change - they are in such dire financial straits they dont know if they will be competing!

Yeah, I don't think it's looking good for them - http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/motorsport/formula_one/7362518.stm

Mini - It's unlikely because, for one thing, Pro Drive don't have a car ready, not to mention the correct paperwork and whatever else you need to enter the Championship. Also, I'd be surprised if the other teams didn't try to stop a substituted entry.

Having said that, stranger things have happened and the FIA might think differently if PD were able to get the cars at least (they could buy Aguri's cars).

I think what will probably happen is that Super Aguri will be wound up and there will be two less cars on the grid. On the upside, it probably means that next season there is the possibility of a new team entering to take up the vacancy left (the FIA have restricted the places to the present teams plus Pro Drive).

pro drive were supposed to be in this year but gave it a miss as some teams were complaining about them having "customer cars" and not their own chassis (you know just like aguri) minardi bough the arrows cars not sure if he used them to race or just for parts (I think the wing mirrors & wheel bearings were usable) lol... Having said that jos verstappen was awsome in the wet at Sepang do you remember it?

I remember the good old days when there were 32 cars or more trying to get onto the grid, and the worst dozen cars had to pre qualify for the qualifying session!

Official Qualifying Classification

Championship leader Kimi Raikkonen is on pole for the first time this season, but it is the return of Fernando Alonso to the front row that saw the Catalonian crowd cheering in Barcelona.

Alonso took pole with his final effort in Q3, dropping then pole-sitter Felipe Massa down to 3rd. It was an amazing effort from the homeboy whose teammate Nelson Piquet could only qualify in 10th.

However, Kimi came through moments later to record the final and fastest lap of the afternoon to top the timing list and the grid on Sunday.

5th on the grid is Lewis Hamilton. The Brit looked ragged, even going off-line in Q1, and Q3 proved little better. Fellow McLaren driver Heikki Kovalainen is next to Lewis in row 3.

Sneaking late on into 4th, and dropping the aforementioned Hamilton, is Robert Kubica. The Pole was a mere 700th of a second slower than Massa. Kubica's colleague Nick Heidfeld was unlucky to come out of the pits behind everyone in the final run out in Q3, thereby slowing down any push for a better time and resulting with, for him, an off-colour 9th place performance.

Red Bull had the best and the worst of the afternoon, as Mark Webber qualified in 7th but David Coulthard was a victim of traffic and cool tyres in Q1. The Scot is 17th on the grid.

And finally, qualifying specialist Jarno Trulli starts in 8th in Barca. Honda's Barrichello and Button are 11th and 13th respectively, whilst Nico Rosberg could do no better than 15th in the Williams.

I remember David Coultard not being good in the wet in an Austrian race and causing one of the biggest pile ups in F1 history! :-rofl2 :-lmao

Oh yes, the Spa incident in Belgium:

I was 13 at the time, and it was probably one the incidents that got me interested in F1.

Heres the English commentary of the Belgium 1998 pile up

4 teams had both cars demolished (Prost Arrows Tyrell & Stewart) and with only 1 spare car only 1 team member took the restart - which was marred by a smaller accident on the first corner!

Good find, don't you just love how Walker denounces it as 'the worst start to a grand prix I've seen in my life', when we all blatently think it's fantastic stuff :D

Wow excellent find.... I had forgot all about that one... Murry was just excellent, he may of got it wrong most of the time but he got you excited.
Shall we start a campaign for the BBC to re-instate him?

Official Race Classification | Full Story

Another successful Sunday for Ferrari has rubber stamped the Reds superiority over title challengers McLaren.

Leading the line, and the Championship, was Kimi Raikkonen. The Finn got off to a wonderful start, made all the better when teammate Felipe Massa beat 2nd on the grid Fernando Alonso to the first corner. The pair never looked back, and Raikkonen won the race just over 3 seconds ahead of Massa.

Ferrari’s blissful afternoon was in stark contrast to those behind.

A multiple collision between Sutil, Coulthard and Vettel in lap 1 saw the safety car make its first appearance in the race. Nelson Piquet was the first of top 10 runners to drop out in lap 8.

Lap 22 saw the nasty high speed exit of Heikki Kovalainen. Medical staff were on the scene quickly to attend to the Finn who went nose-first into the tyre barrier, and thankfully latest reports confirm that Heikki is fit and well.

Lewis Hamilton, starting in 5th, had to work hard to achieve a 3rd place podium finish. He stuck closely to former McLaren driver Alonso for 4th place prior to the first round of pit stops. Later, Lewis was chasing Massa, and the then long gone Alonso had to retire with engine failure from 5th.

Hamilton remained in 3rd, unable to mount a challenge on Massa, but Robert Kubica appeared to be closing in on Lewis, and although the Pole finished up 1.5 secs behind the Brit in 4th, it suggests that he (and the BMW) have what it takes to threaten in future races.

The mass retirements, 9 in all, gave opportunities to score points to those in lesser cars. 5th and 6th were Mark Webber and Jenson Button, while Kazuki Nakajima scored points for the second time in his F1 career by finishing 7th. 8th was Jarno Trulli, miles ahead of Nick Heidfeld who had to take a time penalty for refuelling under safety car conditions.

Drivers’ Championship

Kimi’s lead is 9pts over the now 2nd placeLewis Hamilton. Nick Heidfeld drops from 2nd to 5th, as Kubica and Mass leapfrog the German.

Constructors’ Championship

Heidfeld’s blank day has also seen BMW displaced from the top of the team champs, with Ferrari now in the ascendancy.

Another 100+ points (108 as a matter of fact) day has seen champions F1 Aberdeen take top spot for the first time this season. Pre-race leaders Team Oily had a terrible afternoon, scoring a petty 44pts and falling down to 6th.

I was 2nd best in the scoring today, and my Auto-Dynamo team now sit 2nd in the standings, but with a 19pt deficit to make up with Norm’s team, I’m not expecting to catch up any time soon!

10 pts behind me in 3rd and 4th place are pazinho’s Outcasts and wod.

Climbing higher that anyone after this GP is mrminibus, whose Pro-Drive outfit move up a mighty 6 places. Also doing really well this Sunday were Honda-Williams (5th) and Linhas BMW, who although bottom won’t remain there for much longer should they continue such fine form.

Norm in the Pure FF1 Cup > The return of Mac also made waves in the Cup, as the Supa team propelled themselves to 33rd – just one place outside the all-important top 32.

NEXT RACE > TURKISH GP @ ISTANBUL PARK > MAY 11

The only reason Norm is winning is because he obviously is a billionaire :D

Ana - I wouldn't look at the graph, it makes for grim viewing where you're concerned!
