Like Purplemarina says , put some tension by pulling that way and soak it for a long time ( you're not in a hurry you wrote ) light hammering at the opposit side would help but there is the risk the pin is expending at that point and get even more stuck .

Firstly ...I wish to thank you guys for your _sensible_ advice..
Here's the thing ..
I could spend many hours getting inside ..if indeed I ever manage it ..
This lump is the most rusted thing I've ever worked on ..
looks like it was lay in long wet grass or a puddle for years..
So ..I took a descision that the purists might think was stoopid..
and It was a while before I plucked up the courage.
Armed with my trusty dremel an a heated blade I cut a door in the top cover big enough to get the cover off..
This ..I can repair if neccessary ...and who wouldn't want a door anyway ..?
..for greasing and service etc.
In short ..this cover should have been designed with access ..
The reason for this drastic manoeuvre being ..
I dont want to waste hours accessing something that may not be salvageable anyway..
Ewww ...once inside it looks like a wildlife sanctuary ...
I will attempt a clean ...but in truth ..this motor may have seen better days..

Just got my eye on a First aid box , the inner size fits exactly to the base of the SMR 1224 .
I believe it was a original DIN 13164 box delivered to a BMW and stored in the plate behind the backseats .
Searching the web also found then for FIAT and other cars .
The upper part on this picture is the SMR cover .
.altern. cover SMR 1224.JPG
a part of the lid of the box can be used for the middle part of the cover .
altern. cover 2 SMR 1224.JPG
Most difficult would be to find that SuperMount sticker ;)

If you use something like a socket for a spacer and get a hard metal rod that is a smaller diameter than the pin you could try pushing it out on a large press. Garages often have one for refitting bushes and I've used this method to remove seized pins before.

Dont worry about the plate ...
The surface I'm working on is a half paving slab ..

also ...now that the cover is off ..it may well be that I can apply some heat with a blowlamp ...followed by rapid cooling ..
This may help get the pin free ..

So can the pin be driven out from the opposite side perhaps ?

That is what I would do, drill a hole on the blind side and then tap out with a suitable drift.

..there is already a hole in the blind side ...previously had what I refered to as a philips head grubscrew in it..
Not sure how much clearance there would be for a drift ...
but that was my original idea ..
heating and cooling + easing oil+ hammering with a drift

Work has now stopped on this unit ..
simply because the gears are knackered ...
Almost all of the plastic gears have missing teeth ...
something has turned the plastic brittle and powder like ..
Simply brushing the teeth with my finger ...causes the teeth to turn to powder and fall off ..
My theory ..long exposure to the elements..

Looks like I will have a fine kit of spares ...should I ever encounter another ..but for now ..this is a no go.
Damned shame I calls it.

Sometimes I need both!
A "No Like" for that bad news in the message, and a "Like" for the person finding that news and telling about it.
Then end up pressing no button at all to avoid confusion!

Good news chaps ..
Mikha is sending me a faulty 1224 ..
Looks like I'll get to make working hybrid from this and my kit 'o' spares ..
It may well be that I dont fit it on Carl ...at least for now..
If it aint broke dont try to fix it...
Nonetheless I think his offer is extremely generous ...and much appreciated.
so wanted to say a big 'THANKYOU' publicly.
We will hopefully see another much loved Jaeger rise from the ashes.

The motor kindly donated by Mickha arrived anout 15 minutes ago ..
It is missing the serated edge 2 section cam limit cams that activate the 2 microswitches ...
and wouldn't you know it ..
I have this part ..but since this too is the same plastic as the gears ...suffered the same fate ...
ie degraded and brittle ..
But I think enough remains to attempt to create replacements ..
So ..I have ordered some RTV silicon and am going to attempt something I've never done before ..
Make silicon molds of the small components and cast new ones in liquid plastic/resin.
this may or may not work ..but I am going to try..
once the materials arrive.

The part should be in the box, I put it in a clear cash bag, and taped it up.
Hopefully it's still there, check the box.
