i dont know the in's and out's here, but i do know that the club i am a member of connects to sattelite tv channels over the internet, a man comes in with a laptop and updates monthly, our annual subscriptions total 150 quid and we watch all premier league, espn and scottish premier (not through choice) apparently legally, i wonder how much that would cost us through S** and V****n to watch , we have had this for nearly 2 seasons now. good luck to the landlady in question, but we been doin this longer, just dont want it in the papers lol

That sounds very much like a paid for card share setup. Completely illegal and if the pub gets busted for THAT the licensee may lose her license :D

It's not "Apparently legal" at all - it is wrong in more ways than I can list.

Most of the "revenue" is going to the owner of the server, not to the originating Broadcasters.

I'm sure you can find a few offences in there without being prompted.

If they can't prosecute then they will sue or what ever you can doing regarding copyright. But there is no way the the EPL are going to allow pubs to use European domestic cards and on top of that show 3pm. The pubs have gained nothing from this hearing. It just shows how bad the press are in this country, create false headlines to sell papers.

It is thus not illegal. We shall see what we shall see won't we.

now see this is why i joined this site, there are so many people on here who know about these things, i must confess to being totally ignorant of how these things work, i joined recently so i could find out how to put a package together myself so i could pay less than the £80 a month my Sky is currently costing me. I was totally jealous of how my local was receiving all the football in the world for a fraction of the cost that i was paying for premier league only. and i still do not know what to do lol

The suggestion you will get on this forum will be to buy a proper subscription to a foreign tv service. Theres plenty of choice out there, costing anything from free (only of interest if you want to watch Middle East or African football!) to £2k a year (most of the uk 3pm games in glorious HD)

Paid for card shares are a mugs game and we will NEVER suggest this as an option.

If you are interested in a foreign setup please make a post in the what to buy section.

Yes, of course. Anything that isn't confined to "personal use" (more or less) is different to deliberate group consumption.

Been down London for the Weekend, including the NFL at Wembley.

At two pubs/bars in Brent (Wembley) which had previously been Sky they were both on Nova Systems, one in Particular was hilarious being so close to the home of Football :)

The High Court in London will deliver its verdict on Karen Murphy's Appeal on 16th December.

Don't bother placing bets on the outcome, though, as the ECJ ruling gives no wiggle room for Mr. Justice Kitchin.

He may, however, choose to offer his own interpretation of that ECJ ruling and that would go a long way to establishing the direction of the next TV Rights Tender (Spring/Summer 2012). Pan-European or not?

Regardless of where the PL rights go to, i hope it speeds up EU sat providers being able to sell their product to other EU countries.

Being able to sell them and being willing to sell them are two completely different things.

Premier League 'wins' pub satellite TV copyright battle

The Premier League is claiming victory against the importers of foreign satellite TV decoders in a high-profile copyright court battle.
<SNIP>
Following the ruling, the High Court said that importers of foreign satellite equipment had breached the Premier League's copyright by allowing pubs to show foreign broadcasts.

I don't like the quote that the High Court thinks that it's imported satellite equipment that's part of the problem.
