OK, am looking at that and thinking "if I had something like that where on Earth could I put it so my wife wouldn't see it?"...
 
Installed dish stand today....maybe an overkill with 8 threaded bolts but wow do we have some extreme winds here.

Feel so lucky....2 x 1.8 dishes for some only €310 + installation bits !!

Have Granddaughter the weekend but hopefully dish face will be fitted soon.

Managed to complete the install save a few things to tidy and replace a few of the rusted nuts/bolts.

A has been indicated on the forum the Marrafa dish inclination/declination is made easier to alter by having the adjustment arm at the top rather than the bottom as on the Famaval, also mentioned was that the LNB holder is of steel rather than the plastic version with the Famaval....a good thing here with the sun quickly turning plastic to dust!

Promised myself that the very first setup and scan would be 40.5ºW SES-6.......used my already fitted Ku LNB to locate a data transponder then just to ensure my thoughts taped the C-Band LNB on top and bingo, C-Band transponders found and as you can see, not very pofessional looking but job done! :D

Stunned !! re the Marrafa 1.8m dish.

Looking for 57.0ºE found that the threaded bar... declination/inclination was not long enough !!!

Cost not important but would like to have made a threaded bolt for the Marrafa 1.8m that at present is of 50cm of length so some +/-70cm is needed.

Some have said that as there is not many more sats because of line of sight no point in spending that money.....that is not me so is it possible to have made as a one off to make this arm......obviously in inox.

Hard work manually especially as the temp here reached some 30.9ºC !!

I know that many here have the capabilities or contacts to produce such a thing.

¿Are we talking for a one off of some €100 to €200 or...?

Show a close up of the existing bar. Figure we can get a length of same thread bar for only a few €'s and make one up. If needed can get my friend Dave to custom make, won't cost me that much!

Photo and nut size, ie 19mm or 22mm etc should allow me to calculate actual thread size. That said, it would appear you have a few tools and know how to use them. Got a calliper? That will tell us the thread size. ( Any other member who knows the spec please feel free to chip in ) Only potential problem is the end that attaches to the face mount ring. Cannot see too clearly, but figure a nut of the correct size welded on the end would do this job!

Not a specialist in the spec field Brian so quite happy to just give you the whole existing arm in question for you to replicate to a length of some 70cm in length....quite happy to pay in advance....just so pleased that you can help and being somewhat local is a bonus.....great, thank you.:)

Yep, that may work, but getting the connector through the adjustment nuts could prove difficult, esp if it at the point of elevation, unless you could invert the rod so the connector was only 20-30 cm from the face mount ring, but still the problem of connecting to the ring:mad:

You would just cut back the old threaded rod to a position it would not be in the way, and order a new longer bit, like this.
