Sadly the old dish farm is no more - Ive moved house and had to spend a very sad weekend dismantling the ultra complicated multi lnb / multi dish system that had evolved over the last 15 years or so.
I discovered many coax cables strung along the fence line that didnt seem to have any function in the final iteration of the old setup, and a hideous tangle of cables down the back of the tv stack as I demolished the AV system. (At least half a dozen of which werent connected to anything but were horribly tangled round the others!)
Two of the 80cm dishes had a one way final trip to the metal scrap bins at the local recycling depot as I discovered that the arms were seriously rusted, and all the nuts and bolts had seized up solid. One of them was the first 80cm dish I ever owned - it came off the side of the road in Galashiels long long ago! Dismantling the dish farm showed it was desperately in need of some tlc - most of the fence post dish mounts were totally rotten and would have needed replacing soon anyway.
Anyway enough of Galashiels. In now 20 miles down the road near Kelso & the new place has promise - there is an excellent arc, and a wooden garage behind which I shall be hiding whatever dishes I think I can get away with!
So far Ive got one of the 1m dishes up aligned at 13E and today Ive run the cable from the dish to the house. This will have offset lns for 19E, 9E possibly 5E 5W and whatever else I can fit in! However Im running into problems with the short days up here atm - sunset is 1600 today and its flippin chilly all day when the wind is blowing so installation is slow going. Of course Ive mislaid the ruddy piece of paper with the 16 way switch port allocations so Im having to start again......
So over the next few weeks & months this will be the story of dish farm #2
