Yes, most of us have tried the Black Ultra at one time or another.

Pros and Cons, as with all other LNBs.

Long neck is useful as it gives more scope for axial adjustment.

But longevity can be a problem. My own failed after about three years, but others report even more premature failure.

The big draw when they first came out was sensitivity, and they're not bad at all, on the whole. Others have caught up.

I tried inverto lnb on existing 36e eurasian beam setup.

Yes, I do feel some signal difference.

1) Earlier telemedia 1 &5 feeds were freezing with 90/30 signal, but now chnls are not freezing

2) IMN, scope tv signals were 60/60, now they are 90/65

I feel its improving signal strength more than signal quality :)

I ll test on other sats too... soon

I probably chose the wrong word .... the long neck gives you more scope for moving the LNB towards, or away from, the dish, which can help with optimisation.

I find they work well and haven't had any issues with longevity but most of mine are probably only a few years old. Mine seem to work better on longer cable runs for some receivers like the DRHD F15. On shorter cable runs I've had to use an inline attenuator to turn them down a little.

Can be a necessary evil when using Receivers with inadequate AGC.

Never found it necessary myself, even with a 1.1m UK based dish on 28E.

Never heard of someone wanting to reduce the signal strength. o_O
I always thought, d more the merrier. ;)

My Vu+ Uno did not like the IBU with a 4m cable run - it simply overloaded the tuner on 28E... It's fine with a longer cable.

Only up to a point. The satellites at eg 28E are now chucking out so much power its quite possible to overload tuners so you get odd effects. We had quite a few spurious frequency reports when the UK spots were first fired up on 2F I think it was.

It may sound odd, but I got better quality signals on weaker transponders when I used an attenuator. I was able to lock transponders that I couldn't get before. This was particularly noticeable on high end frequencies over 12.5GHz back in the days when Astra 2F 28E was using them and with Astra 1N at 19E was weak in Finland. Perhaps some of the very strong signals from lower in the band where drowning out the much weaker ones higher up in the band. I used a variable attenuator so I could watch the signal quality levels on the receiver while I turned it up or down to get the right balance.

Probably due to the fact, that its reducing the noise levels as well accompanying the original waveform. :-wow

Think of it as standing next to a plane that's taking off - pretty loud, right? Overloading your ears and you can't hear anything... Same principle here.
