the bean is fine, but says I may need a 1.2m dish which is a little too big for me. I did read a post that someone in southern Germany was getting it with a 1.2 dish

Thanks & I've seen those charts but everything I've read say I need a 1.2 m dish. Can anyone get it using a 90 cm?

Will I be able to get the free to air channels on Nilesat/Arabsat using a SKY receiver? e.g. MBC2,3 & 4

If you are in the uk not without a BIG dish - 1.2 m diameter absolute minimum, and probably much bigger.

No it will be southern Spain, with a 90 cm dish, but I'm not sure if I can use a sky receiver to get the free to air channels, does anyone know?

:) Situated here south of Alicante, able to receive 5w, 7w and 8w all on 70cm running 2 lnb's , all with strong signals.

Problem with the Sly box, it ain't the most sensitive, but can certainly receive a dedicated 7w here.

There must be members living in that area that can give you a definite answer!!!

Best of luck, hope you win.

Cheers ;) lovelyperson

Hi, I live in the North of galicia, North West Spain and I was able to receive 2 of the Nilesat transponders using a 110 cm offset dish and 0'3 DB LNB. The strongest transponder here was 11.766H and reception was much better in the early morning, fading after 11 a.m. GMT. The Anuario 2004 of Tele Digital has several pages of interesting satellite footprint maps, which you may find useful.

I am in the same area, obviously if I can get a good reception with a 70 cm dish I would rather put that up instead of a 90 cm.

I will be using a sky decoder, at least to start with. I had a quote of 40 euros for a 90 dish. I would appreciate some advice on where to get the hardware from, as I am new to the area. Also what FTA channels you are picking up from Nilesat?

Hope you can help.

:) It is, but NOT the Nordic beam, you will receive only the european beam on Sirius 2 and none of Sirius 3.

...to go back to the thread topic, you should not have a problem with all of the 7ºw transponders.

thanks :D lovelyperson
