Check the new second dish on another sat like 19e just to verify it's just 28e's weaker signal there.

I have got one of these, just tuning it to 2D as a backup for freeview, as that breaks up every rain storm!
I get an excellent signal, on a mini dish, works fine for anything from 1.5 to 15 minutes then err. 5, followed by reboot.
I have done a new install and have only one channel: BBC 1, it still does it!
Software v 3.1, boot CI106
Is it worth putting DV2000 on this? Will it cure it do you think?

I'll try the re-install of 3.1 first as that is still offered by Nokia on their site!
HB13DISH, are you running yours against Astra, or another sat?
What LNB do you use?
Could this be an Astra / LNB combination issue, when Ovis states only problems with Astra?

Moved to Italy and continued to receive Hotbird on 60cm dish.
Recently moved dish round to Astra 2A south beam but the signal totally drops out every 6 minutes or so with "Err 5" and reboots. Thought might be a dish problem so upped it to 80 cms and used a DiSEqC switch to change between the dishes for Astra/Hotbird. Problem still exists. Signal on Astra is probably better than Hotbird which is solid. Location is well within the 2A footprint.
Nokia software is CI2.6.
Grateful if anyone can advise solution.
tks

Will try this method this evening with ZDF on Hot Bird 13E. Deleted it ages ago when I realized it was causing the reboot.
(It might work well now, so I might be out of channels to test)
Viavault said:Hi Pete,
I have also had the same problems with my 9600s, 3 years ago I tried
receiving 28.2E, 9600 kept rebooting regularly. Since then I just receive Hotbird (no problem), and Astra 19.2E which started having problems with certain channels a couple of years ago.
There is a solution to the reboot problem,(haven't tried it on 28.2E )
Each channel that causes the box to reboot needs to be manually downloaded. No need to type in numbers.
1.Select a bad channel to view.
2.Before it reboots enter the MENU/INSTALLATION/ADVANCED
CHANNEL SEARCH.
3.Move down the list to PID's, Press Key < or > on remote control,
(''AUTO'' displayed on all 3 lines should change to numbers)
Now press OK and OK again to download the channel.
The new channel will be numbered, example A 424. Repeat process to
replace all problem channels.
I upgraded my 9600s firmware to Ci3.1 seven years ago, but as you can see it won't solve this problem. If you do intend to upgrade the firmware you must use a PC running Windows 98, and a 9pin Null Modem Serial cable. (Better to stick with a newer receiver model)
Thanks for your posts, as I have also been wondering if it was a fault with the box.
