RS232 serial and STBtool

I have had a little go but didn't get any results as I don't really know what I'm doing.

I did find this video interesting:

Maybe I could spray some compressed air on my similar looking chip's when the box is on?

Freezer spray better than compressed air.

I see, that's what he's using. Accent threw me.

@RustySpoons would you mind talking a look if I posted this to you, could you PM your details?

Managed to flash the box over Serial.

All voltages present and correct from the PSU.

Is not a software issue. Removed tuner cans, tuner has faulty capacitors &/or 27MHz Crystal.
I did reflow the tuner IC and also removed the mainboard and reflowed the PCB tuner connections.
Will see if I can get a replacement Crystal from work or have another hunt about it in my component drawers, if that doesn't resolve it the tuner will need replacing as the SMD capacitors obviously are not marked and there is no schematic for this tuner/chipset so cannot replace them.

I would like to thank @RustySpoons for his offer and effort he has put into this, something I wouldn't have been able to do. Hopefully a fix can be made.

Replaced the Crystal, fault is still present so it's either the capacitors (I've asked Serit for a schematic) or the Airoha AV2010 chipset.

I'm on the Hunt for a Serit SP720W, does anyone have a knackered D15 or know what other boxes used this tuner, like a D15 clone or whats inside the TM 5402 M3?

Serit Tuner on it's way from Hong Kong, will update this when it arrives.

I am not sure but I think the Blade boxes were similar to the D15 and the TM-5402. I think I read somewhere on this forum that they were all made in the same factory?

Tuner arrived from Serit this morning, removed/replaced old tuner, box is working perfectly :Y

If anyone is wondering what the wet stuff is, it's flux remover as I always clean my work :)

Ref the flux remover, what would you suggest for general use?
(BTW, I have plenty of IPA already)

IPA is good, but takes some time. I use MG Chemicals flux remover spray but you have to be careful with it.

Thanks, I'll try IPA first but get some of the MG (or similar) stuff if I find it neccessary.

IPA and a good stiff anti static brush will work just fine.

I would like to thank @RustySpoons for all his effort into resolving my long running problem with this box. Top job.

The box arrived today, works as it should, it's really a relief to change transponder and see a signal!
