HI ALL

I want to take the cover off the Sagemcom DTR500 to see if I change the fan to something much quieter. Can anybody tell me how to take off the cover?

Thanks :)

Is this the DTR 94500 machine ?

From another site

In relation to the Sagem being noisy I have to say I encountered that problem & reported it to John Mc in ********* who got Kenny to check their own in shop device and with other customers none of which had the problem. Kenny rang me and suggested I move the box from it's current location in case it's proximity to another device (amp or DVD player) may be causing it to over heat. I have to say I was sceptical but I moved it and bingo the noisy fan is no more, so kudos.....

Is there an economy mode in which the fan does not switch on unless it is overheating ?

Moving it would not be an option. Anyway, I just wanted to get inside to take a peek. But I do know it has a slightly noisy fan and I don't use this box anyway as when I key up on the 2M ham band it makes the TV kick over to HDMI and then back again. Just curious that's all. :) An old Sky+HD box is no problem.

Several Ferrite beads or donuts on the HDMI cables will take care of that problem.

And in replacing the fan use one of the same size and DC voltage but look for the dBA rating on the fan, the lower the dBA the quieter it will be.

Here is a good place to start looking.

Code:
http://www.frozencpu.com/cat/l3/g36/c437/s1123/list/p1/Fans-12_Volt_Fans_by_dB-0_-_9_dB_Fans-Page1.html

At 9 dBA you won't hear a thing unless you have Dog hearing capabilities.

So just separate the top from the bottom along the grooves carefully with a broad bladed instrument, might be handy to pop the three tabs rear top first:D

Nothing too lose if just curious:-rofl2

Keep us informed of procedure please:)

Good luck

Not forgetting to carefully peel off the 'warranty void if removed' in one piece.

Hey, behave yourselves! :D. I will probably sell it at the next ham rally, but I don't want to destroy the cabinet in the process.
