Sky Showing Viewing Card Number on Screen

Don't think the customers would like to have the footballers' legs or heads cut off, plus a lot of money for it. Most of these Sky Italia receivers are HDMI output, so it wouldn't work anyway.

All Sky Italia boxes have video out as well as HDMI (99percent of pubs use video or UHF not HDMI) so it would work! Also you only need to cut off just above the Sky logo and a few lines above the bottom of the picture... so no problem with losing the players legs (some players might play better with no legs!!!)

I just thought of a great way for Sky to implement this properly. If they encode the card number in the audio stream on a high frequency that the human ear couldn't hear. Then the inspector could just walk into the pub and take a minute or two recording of the audio and extract the card number from the stream with a special reader. Of course turning off the audio with combat this but it would piss off the punters too....

A low pass audio filter would counteract that, or a notch filter even.

Can't see them going the audio route, but I'm sure that they've considered people using zoom to cut off the top and bottom of the picture, or even the device mentioned above which cuts off picture lines, they can probably flash up the number pretty well anywhere on the screen if they want to.

I understand that this "man" goes around looking for the pint glass or lack of pint glass to showthey have a pub sub but i was wondering if it would be the same team or if it was someone tasked just to look for the numbers.

I was in the pub on Sunday watching the Birmingham game and a number appeared over the S sports logo in the top right of the screen. This was on an Irish domestic subscription NOT S italia. The number was 9 digits long but it was not the viewing card number.

This happened to me on the Stoke Vs Aston Villa game on an offical sky uk plus box but it was not the card number , Turning over the channel the number dissapered then came back later
