My argument exactly. But the TS adamantly declined to see it that way on many occasions.

They tended (in my time) to be jacks of all trades and sometimes unable or unwilling to fully grasp both legal and technical detail, preferring instead to make some issues another person's problem. I hope that's changed.

Heaven knows how they'd cope with a compliance assessment on a new production line with umpteen safety devices, lots of potentially dangerous machinery and evolutionary computerisation when they couldn't deal with eg a fluorescent light fitting starter that had a propensity for glowing itself into flame and molten plastic! At least the CE marking was destroyed!

Apologies for my ire.

Back to Topic .........

Looks more like some sort of "model number" than a batch code. Is there nothing else on it?
That's a serial or batch number, they are different on each PSU I have seen, the model number is on a label underneath.

FWIW, I had a look on the Antiference (and the CPC-Farnell, who sell them) website for any "specification/compliance " info on that PSU - and couldn't find ANYTHING (apart from a RoHS declaration). Time to "hit home hard" on Antiference?

I am gradually going off DTT as the UHF band allocated to FreeView gets narrower due to the expansion of mobile broadband,
We have lost some Multiplexes from our main transmitter at Sandy Heath due to some HD on reduced power :(

I have a 64 Element communal aerial that has worked fine for the last 4 years,
I took down my own 32 Element when the other system came on line,

Digital UK | 700MHz clearance

What comes after 700MHz clearance ? as the Mobile Broadband operators have larger cheque books than DTT operators,

Is the end for DTT by 2025 ? maybe back to fewer channels on One Multiplex

The Future is in Satellite :):Y

Might you not expect "anything else" (I wouldn't!)?
(then again, we only use DTT from "time to time" when, as the "old" DRX 895 can't record more than 2 channels at once, we (or at least SWMBO!) wants to watch something else that is on DTT!)

I read somewhere the othe day that DTT is or has been swtiched off in Switzerland, so yes I can see this happening here.
The future is TV delivered by the internet, I have a feeling satellite will suffer the same fate, albeit a good few years away yet.

Just had this reply from Antiference:

Hi Dale

I am unable to comment immediately regarding conformity as I will need to look into this for you and get back to you with the relevant documentation.

As far as I am aware it meets the standards required however I will need to explore this further to ensure we are meeting these.

This product as you can imagine is built to a price point as the demand in the market for more cost effective products increases. We still however manufacture premium products which as not as price sensitive using higher quality components and materials etc.

As said previously the PS12F is a popular product and we allowed it to be sold into the market for some time before adding it to the kit and during that time returns were low and it was well received into the market. This has continued since launch.

I will get back to you asap with some details on the certification.

Many thanks

Kind regards

Dan

Going the same way as some 3rd generation STB's
The South Koreans used to build high quality Satellite receivers now the Chinese said they will make them much cheaper using less expensive components & try to convince us that the product is just as good :-rofl2

And now a 10 foot "C" band dish.

This could be fixed with some small ferrite beads at the entrance to the centre conductor from the power supply, but that would mean opening it up to do their work for them.

Switching supplies are very very RF noisy, as most run around 200 KHz or so and have multiple harmonics that run right through most upper broadcast bands, that's why we never went to switching supplies in our TV and AM/FM stereo monitors, it would have been cheaper to do so, but the shielding and RFI suppression costs would counter the savings.

And by the looks of that PSU, it may be better to make your own, as I dont see any way to add shielding, if you do open it, can you post some photos.

I tried loads of different type ferrites, it made no difference.
