Hmm just about to order to order an M3 version but the discount code WOS gave me does not work, waited all day for a reply :(
if only it could decode 4.2.2 also, oh well maybe some day !

@Phantom is trying to implement it via 3rd party sw atm but if its possible we will have to wait and see

What does that mean, does it mean the box could decode 4:2:2 with its processor or with the decoder chip?

Its either one or the other or perhaps a Combination of the 2 combined, This will only work i assume on the new Mark 3 version of the 5402hd

Just at a time when H.264 4:2:2 is coming into use more and more ... sigh.

So it seems as if the 5502 is basically identical to the 5302. However, the 5302 blind scan speed is brutal, is the 5502 the same?

I should certainly hope so its the same receiver in a different style box one which accommodates an internal hard drive with the extra addon part from TM.

Hardware and software are identical

Does the 5502 have a card and cam slot?

I've checked a few website including technomate and just want to double check.

I'm looking at buying this one over the tm5402 hd which I've read isn't as good the m3 model.

I assume the Card reader and Cam slot are behind the front flap as in the 5402 model, Just be advised that bot his and the 5302 being identical do not use the same channel list format as the more popular 5402, F15, CT4100 etc.. as in the .CNDF format, and the Channel editor is pitiful to say the least.

Using with a standard Diseqc motor and USALs wont pose a problem but using with an actuator or 1224 then any list you had previous with a .CNDF compatible model is useless with this one as you would have to let the 5502 assign new stored satellite positions

i have the 5302, its great for blind scanning, although slow if you do the full range (about the same as tm 6800 which is what i compare it with), the tuner is sensitive and i use it mainly for blind scanning. the 6800 i still use for main tv watching. i have all sorts of problems getting the 5300 to reliably control the v box, and i have gone to the v box controlling the dish on its own. i have also found problems pre programing recordings i like the 5300 but it is a" animal" as i think william 1 described it.

Yes the TM5502HD is a bit of an animal but it is the best Blind Scan box available for us enthusiasts I use the TM6902HD as my main receiver for watching DTT/HD & HD Sat tv,

A couple of things you need to be aware of with the TM5302HD & TM5502HD

When editing the data base recheck the last transponder after you exit as the receiver invariable changes the polarization

For a quick start on feed satellites:-
Menu >> Advanced Search >> Press OK on any transponder >> Now Press the yellow button =Delete All >> Exit >> Exit >> Blind Search >> now set range & Blind Scan Step Scan >> Press the Red button to start,
I have found that with Feed Satellites this is a much faster method than going through the data base to delete dead transponders :)
