I missed this guys, came out a week ago.

NewCS v.1.67 RC1

Changelog

v.1.67 RC1
Added support for the Synology devices on the Marvell ARM platform.
Added support for the Coolstream STB. (PS! NO Sci support.. yet)
Added support for the Azbox STB and devices on the Sigma MIPS platform. (PS! NO Sci support.. yet)
ALOT of PC/SC fixes, prefer these devices with the ccid driver over phoenixes.
Misc. phoenix fixes.
HTB+ Viaccess fix.
Added support for the new viasat cards (we think, no feedback on tests).

PS!
You _HAVE_ to use boxkey manually on certain NDS cards now.

Gonna have a try testing my Omnikey card reader under Ubuntu . This is a PC/SC card reader as apose to a phoenix and compatibility sounds good although it seems there's a little more work to do. I've got some research to do but I'll report back with my findings as always.

Sharkadder :- This may help with your update issue.

Yes mate, thats what I have, but the driver install / setup is rather complicated. It will probably be a Carlsberg fueled friday night of research for me this week. The wifes out and the kids will hopefully be fast asleep. I'm hoping by the time I get p*ssed and resort to spinning some tunes in mixvibes I'll have the server up under unbuntu using the omnikey. We'll wait and see.

Right guys I've done it. I've got the new white sly card 0963 running in an external reader using Ubuntu. At the moment its in a Virtual Machine on my iMAC, but I'll be setting it up permanent on my old pc which now runs just Ubuntu.

I'm using the Omnikey 3121 card reader. So far I have my DM7025 connected to it and ECM times are around 0.100 seconds. No dropped ECM's so far but only up to 100 reqs so far.

I'll write a full tutorial on how I set this up, probably on friday. Something to bare in mind straight away, you cannot use this reader on a Dreambox, there is no driver for it !

Now, here's something for everyone, blocking just GA EMM's only may allow the entitlements to update. I've removed the other blockers and performance is fine so far. Lets wait and see if the update happens. If you do this, be careful of temperature in the Dreambox, my card is now nice and cool in the external reader ofcourse. Much more to come on this guys, I'll keep you posted.

If its true its good news indeed.

The only difference i can see at the moment between the Smargo and the Omnikey is the price, if they both work with a PC server.

The smargo is around £40 if I'm not mistaken. I've just picked up 2 Omnikey 3121 readers off eBay Brand new for £5.50 :D

If it works on a pc server its a no brainer. OK the smargo is probably the only option for a Dreambox server but it certainly opens up the possibilities for the PC server side

I've never really gone down the avenue of using a PC server but it certainly opens up new possibilities for myself and everyone else :D

I see it this way, If i can't get it to work i've only wasted £5.50 :-lmao

Well chaps its been live all night , as mentioned just in a VM on my mac at the moment, I've got my DM7025 connected to the newcs directly with an N line, I left it on sly sports 1 all night and ECM requests are 100%. I'm blocking just GA and card is nice and cool and debug output looks normal, no emm flooding.

Gonna get my linux pc networked , just need to throw a cat6 in to the garage. Then it can sit quietly in the corner blinking....

Coley, thanks for the tip on the smargo, I'll do some testing on that too. I've got a couple of smargo's at hand so I'll try it out on the Dreambox. Any method to get the cards out of the internal readers has got to be better.

EDIT:- Just bought 2 more omnikey readers from flee-bay £8.50 delivered, haha result ! I payed £25 for my first one...

Yeah I reckon mate. Now it seems my first one is spoken for, I like to have spares in stock for testing or passing on to others.

Baring in mind this setting .. <type>smartreader+</type> I'd think its standard smargo settings in Dreambox kernel mode.

Guys I've just tried the card in the smargo with NewCS 1.67 in ubuntu. Used the code shown above but nothing. It's same as always, stuck in a reset loop. I've used the standard smargo settings that work in CCcam with my old NDS2 card.

Could anyone confirm the smargo settings used ?

Someone on *dudez claims to have smargo working OK on Linux PC and on DM800.
Don't have smargo or any other usb reader myself so can't confirm.
