Yes, you should get a lot more than 10 channels, probably around 200 free to air, mostly rubbish and regional variations, but a lot of channels. It could be alignment or LNB skew, but could also be receiver settings.

As for Receiver settings, you need to check that Universal (or Universal 9750/10600, or something similar) is selected in the LNB set-up.

Also, how are you "scanning" for Channels?

ie Are you relying upon an almost certainly well out of date stored Transponder list? If so, add/edit/delete manually by correlation with the latest Lyngsat/Flysat/KingofSat listings or (easier and quicker), use Blind/Auto scan if you have that facility (or Network scan, at a pinch).

Well, it looks like I called this one wrong.

I recently had the pleasure of testing 2 E.Leclerc specials - both Elap Thallis V - that didn't receive horizontals.
The signal was checked on my existing system.
If your Visionic is an Elap Thallis clone then there maybe a common fundamental problem with both receivers (could be hardware or firmware).
I would suggest confirming whether you can receive horizontals, if not (and your dish / lnb is set up correctly) then it might be a case of getting your money back.
Brico Depot does a 79 Euro kit with a nice TBoston 4600 receiver, unfortunately the unit I installed wouldn't receive EPG from 28.2° - also the kit comes with a monoblock LNB - which I'm personally not too fond of (I replaced mine with a single universal LN:cool:.

No FTA receiver will do that.

You need a certified Freesat receiver (for the Freesat EPG) or $ly receiver (for $ly's EPG). I believe that there's a workaround for Dreamboxes but these are enthusiast's receivers and definitely not for simple box watching.

Thanks ...the Lnb is universal & the range is as you say ...no programs are stored in the remote ,i just use f/ward b/ward buttons each time & go from 1/11 to get the available programs ? the blind /auto scan ?? which i use just goes through the available satellites..telling me of course that there is no signal....when i come to 28.2dgs east it gives me a panel of the available channels ie:1/11 & the relevant info ..ref your point of the listings ..i do not completely understand this ??? i have been on these sites & most of the info is out of my understanding ,generally....after many hours of up on the roof !! with my KONIG SAT/FINDER.. i am able to get good signal strength & find the sats that i want ...BUT obviously the fine tuning is wrong .....What appears to be wrong is when switching on !! after a short time the signal drops out ....switch on & off 2/3 times the signal stays tuned in ..generally !Again.. you & the other professionals are a lifeline to" newbys"like me ..so your patience is appreciated ...jewells

The thing is these FTA boxes should function correctly, the Elap units (for certain) don't.
It looks like they've been released to market without meeting the basic (stated) specification and function.
In any other country they'd have been withdrawn from market, but it seems that many users are only finding out (to their own cost) that they don't work correctly - after being repeatedly fobbed off by the distributors and Elap after-sales.

Most FTA receivers will show what's on now and next, the Tboston 4600 doesn't appear to, then again, I was testing it from what could be considered as a fringe reception area (not my location).

You should definitely contact Trading Standards about the Elap boxes, in both the country you bought it in and the country that their head office is in, if it is in the EU. They will take a dim view of boxes which have DVB logos etc which are out of spec, and have refused to do anything about it.
