I think you can be sure the manufacturer has made sure the BP filter cuts off anything much above 20.2 GHz in that LNB - the LO is running at 21.2 GHz. In any case, if it did manage to receive the 21.3 - 21.6 sub-band, the resultant LO down conversion would be a useless 100 - 400 MHz into your receiver.

..So ...I guess it remains the best kept secret on the internet.
Nowhere can I find ANY info on this ...but it does keep appearing in the various experimental reception reports on some sites ..
Oncilla for example has access to one ..
What is it ?

Equipment used :- XMW R9216 HDF Lnb
Searched and searched ..
and keep coming up empty ..other than this is what's used.
It's as though Ka is simply 'off limits' except for the chosen few...presumably those in the know with deep pockets.
cest la vie

Yep Looks like it ..
I was thinking perhaps this Mythical R9216 covers in one jump ..but I guess that wouldn't be practical ..
So The R9000D would be a good starting point ..
Certainly ..It covers 21500.
I'm seriously thinking I might splash out on that one soon..

Out of stock atm ..which is perhaps a good thing as I'm impulsive ..and need to save enough funds for feed and lnb.
I've sent an enquiry about cost ..availablity...shipping and suitability for what I intend to receive ...errrr eventually.
Had to install plugin for Firefox just to read and reply to Satshop24.DE ..as it's all German to me ..
lol.
..an expensive project ...but may give my DXing a new lease of life if I go ahead.
..but at least it's now in £100s ..not £1000s

Well at least those LNB's knock a zero off the price of the Norsats VS.

At least the R9216 exists - Not sure of its original source, but here's a pic taken from a forum I'm a member of.

Like the others, only goes up to 22.2 GHz.

Nice find Llew ..
Looks like the it's the R9000D that's favourite then..
The one you pictured put me on the right track though.
Now to save up some pennies ..and find a vendor that actually has one to sell..
Still a massive learning curve but I think we have taken the first step up it.

..Oh dear ...now I just feel deflated ..
I have found the source of the elusive R9215HDF ...and we are back in realms of 'wishful thinking'..
Perhaps not as expensive as the Norsat gear ..but still too much for me.

I contacted XMW directly ..not really expecting a reply ..but a chap called Jin ..did reply and it is possible to buy direct from the in Korea.

below are the communications...

>>>>
1)
I do appologise if this email is not appropriate as I am not a business or retailer.
I am in fact a TV repair technician whos hobby is satellite DXing.
Satellites over Europe have in recent times started TV/Feed broadcasts in the upper Ka band Horizontal polarisation around 21500 >21600 ghz and as a DXer I am curious.
Of course LNBs covering this range are not commercially available and indeed dificult to find.
I found your company whilst searching the internet ..and spotted the R9000D which appears to be what I need ...along with a suitable dish feed of course.
I wonder if it is possible to purchase what I need ?
I am based in the UK and cannot find anyone selling your product ..but perhaps you can help or at least point me in the right direction.
Many thanks for reading this and again ..I appologise if my contacting you was inappropriate.
kind regards

2) (Jin) We recently sold the attached products to someone like you in the UK , he tested and confirmed working well.
LNB R9215HDF (21.2 - 22.2 ghz)
Feed FD9000
Hope this will be helpful to you

3) Many thanks Jin ...where can these items be purchased ?

4) You can buy direct from us
LNB R9215HDF 750 USD
Feed FD9000 50 USD
Shipping by FedEx 200USD

>>>>>

This is the edited version of the emails so as to remove critical data.
..but I can pay by PayPal ..should I wish to proceed.

Now ..anyone know the winning lottery numbers for next week..
lol

Whilst I realise I am teaching my grannie to suck eggs as nobody on this board is stupid, but It is the old supply and demand algorithm, produce and sell more and they become cheaper as the cost is directly proportional to the size of the production run, limit production quantities and hence sales and they only become affordable for the few.
Used to hit this in industry a lot
buy 10 £1000 Ea
buy 100 £650 Ea
buy 1000 £350 Ea
buy 10,000 £200 Ea

of course all driven by demand for the product, if nobody wants nobody makes

Hi Solly ...
If you are definately interested and can afford these prices roughly $1000 ...I will contact Jin for you and pass on an email address for you ..
PM me a current active email address and I'll forward this .
But only if your interest in purchase is genuine ..
He was good enough to reply to me and don't want to waste any more of his time ..
I cannot guarantee a reply or indeed they will ship to Israel ..but happy to try for you.

This new inverto could be useful for the 21 - 22GHZ upper band - if you can find one, haven't been able to yet.

Circular, but if the price is right, worth a try.

http://www.inverto.tv/products/product.php?section=1&id=249&cat=66

P.S. Have enquired of Invacom as to where it can be obtained; waiting for a reply (if forthcoming).

Nice find Llew ..
If they can do it circular ..they can do it linear ..
Odd that searching on google using the product ID doesn't even direct you to Invertos website..
If you get a reply ..I for one will be VERY interested as an interim solution.
cheers buddy.

Heard about this one around November I asked over on DXtv.de about it and nothing was known. Glad to see it is an actual product.

I'm surprised Solly hasn't more info on this ..particularly as it's aimed at those within Nilesats intended footprint..
