My Satellite Setup
VIARK SAT 4K receiver with a Selfsat H50D4 flat panel antenna mounted on a Moteck SG2100A DiSEqC 1.2/USALS H-H motor
My Location
Brussels (Belgium)
Hi everyone,

I'm based in Brussels and currently experimenting with a motorized satellite setup. My configuration includes:

  • Selfsat H50D4 flat panel antenna
  • Moteck SG2100A DiSEqC 1.2 / USALS H-H motor
  • VIARK SAT 4K receiver
I’ve mounted the H50D4 on the SG2100A and aligned it with 0° skew at true south. The motor handles azimuth, elevation, and skew automatically as it moves across the arc.

I know the H50D4 is marketed as a fixed-position antenna, but I’m curious if anyone here has tried using it in a motorized setup. Specifically:

  • Does it maintain good signal quality across multiple satellite positions?
  • Are there any known limitations with its internal LNB array when tracking satellites east and west?
Any real-world experiences, tips, or technical insights would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance,
Peter

As long as there's enough elevation adjustment on the Selfsat to get the correct declination it should work. The only issue I can think of is some satellites have non-standard skew e.g. Eutelsat sats have around 3.5° skew offset & Astra 7° offset - I don't know how sensitive the Selfsat is to skew.
