What's this, Martin - do you have a link?

My original G-Box has been humming since new - I have to hit it(!) to get it to shut up. Still works fine, though.

A little less analogue, and a lot more crap.

Not sure if I posted these before, but a charity shop had a few of these in their electrical bin a few weeks ago, I bought one for 2 pounds since I was a bit sceptical that it could do the job.

I'll run it up over the weekend.

No doubt it would do the job CH ...but I nearly fell for something similar recently ...till I queried the lack of a remote ..
Does your cheepy have one buddy ?

As you can see, there is no room in the box for packaging, or a remote.

A nice device ...though perhaps a bit pricey ..
designed for the US market primarily ..but at least they had the sense to make it 115v ..230v switchable

still a bit underated ..as are the Alshat boxes ...which is why they run too hot..
We use 240v here in the UK ...but it is assumed a 220v unit will cope.
This is true of switch mode psus....but inadequate imo for transformer units.

A lot of electrical units from the far east use what I call 'biscuit' or wafer remotes ..
for example hdmi hubs..
These take up hardly any box space ...being about 2 inches x 1 inch and only mm thick

Depends where you read the review's i guess, i don't think its a bad price tbh, its a nice looking bit of kit that does the job and you can programme it via computer.

Yep ..'tis very nice Martin ..
I'm waiting for them to bring out a dual positioner combo to accomodate 2 jacks ...with one control line..
AZ/EL is the goal..
btw ..
you aren't a member of the weekend wanderers by any chance R U mate ?

It could be possible to make the skew drive an extra actuator,

No pal but what a nice find:).

That's something I need to check on my RC2000C and I am hoping its a AZ/EL model and not polar, I no it means making another mount but fringe channels will come in lots better :)

Well, you might as well create an LNB skew-er while you're at it!

I thought the 'C' on the end meant it was an Az/El model?

Well, you might as well create an LNB skew-er while you're at it!

First you turn diodes into dark matter and continue by overheating transformers
and finish it off by putting LNB's on skewers (to put them on the grill later I guess).
I will start looking for the stuff that survives that kind of treatment, it surely must be
really robust. Big electrolytic capacitors are best fried at medium heat to get
the middle part properly cooked but LNB's are new to me, any tips?
Served with brussel sprouts? Dish size?

3 different types of the C model Alex,
RC2000C
The RC2000C provides tracking for inclined orbit satellites via Step Track, Search, and Memory Track algorithms. Three versions of the RC2000C are available: the RC2000C AZ/EL for use with elevation over azimuth type antenna mounts, the RC2000C POLAR for use with polar mounts which employ either a motorized declination or latitude angle adjustment, and the RC2000C EL/AZ for use with azimuth over elevation type antenna mounts.

@Waveguide - you have an odd diet!

Thanks for the explanation, Martin, I didn't realise this. Let's hope yours is the one you want!
