Difficult to tell without being on site. The standard spacing is no less than 500mm.

Again, no idea regarding the mast length from sat behind a desk ;). Cut it to a sensible height then trim it after

my gibertini came with two wing nuts and was missing two washers.

do i replace the wing nuts with proper nuts?

You can do, several here have; although the supplied wing nuts are fairly strong.

i had spare washers here so no problem with adding my own. they will do a job.

i also have some other nuts that fit and i might just double that behind the wing nuts
