Hi ;

I have been watching most of the channels that on Turksat via my satellite dish and basic 'Head' SD receiver

My receiver is almost 8 years old and not working properly now

I would like to buy a new receiver, possibly the ones with the PVR - USB recorder (HD)

I have searched on Amazon UK and Ebay UK but couldn't see anything that say Turksat receiver

There are lots of HD satellite receivers on ebay and they all around £34 quid but no sure if they are ok to use to watch Turksat channels

Thanks for your help

Regards

You wont get any "Turksat" receivers in the UK its too small a potential market.

For the Free To Air channels any HD receiver will be just fine. For the NDS encrypted ones you will need to find a specialist supplier - probably shipping it in from Turkey. You may get lucky and find some in German shops as Germany has a massive Turkish diaspora.

Oh and a suitable subscription of course.

Got any friends or relatives in Turkey? If so get them to source what you require & ship it over - it will be FAR cheaper than using third party western Europe suppliers.

For just the free stuff have a look at the TM 5402 M3 series - decent little HD receivers at a sensible price. They work fine with the free 42E HD channels.

Hi

Thanks for your replies

There are some local satellite shops in London which sells receiver to watch Turkish channels but all receivers there come from Germany or Turkey and they all have 2 pin euro power cables....no good to use here in UK

I have just searched on ebay again and there are lots of these "Openbox V8s Hd Satellite Receiver -Pvr" on sale for about £35.....I don't know if they are any good ???

There are also few of those "HD Line HD-310 receiver" for sale .....I dont know if they are any good to watch Turksat channels ?

I just want to watch free to air channels that s all

Thank you

The power cables arent an issue - if they are sold in the UK the shop has to supply adapters. Or just chop the plug off and wire a normal 3 pin onto it.

Open boxes are ok - nothing fancy. Never heard of the others. Dont expect a hard drive with the openbox (or any other cheap receivers) - they are normally pvr ready which means you have to use an external hard drive with them.

I'm Turkish myself and use an Openbox V8S for the free to air Turkish channels at 42E (I actually have a motorised system but my dish is mainly pointed at Turksat 42E as my parents like to follow Turkish dramas on EuroD & Star - they are always about three hours long each episode! :D)

The Openbox actually isn't a bad box, I like it far more than the Fortec Star SD receiver I had before. Yes, it's cheap and cheerful - you don't get any fancy menu's or features but if you simply want to receive Turkish TV channels I think this box is good enough for that.

As AnalogueSat rightly pointed out, the box doesn't have a built in hard drive but does have PVR features - you'll need to plug in an external hard drive or USB memory stick in to the USB port to record programmes and if you wanted to, use the timeshift function (pause and rewind live tv). If you do not need the ability to record a channel whilst watching another at the same time (which you wouldn't be able to do without a twin LNB anyway) , this is a very reasonably priced way of doing it. The handy thing I've found about using an external drive is the ability to simply unplug it from the box and watch a recorded program on another TV in the house.

dankargo ;

thanks for your message

I was reading other topics about Turksat and receivers here on this forum and i remember seeing you saying that ;
"the Openbox which I'm using can screw up LNBs which in turn would cause some problems with certain frequencies."
is this true ?

Also what do I need to do if i buy one of these Openbox V8S today in order to continue to watch my Turkish channels ?
I have been using my 'Head SD' receiver for about 8 years and I can watch all the channels on Turksat without any problem

So if i buy Openbox V8S today then do I need to change my dish, lnb, allignment etc ? or do i just connect the new receiver and that s all ?

Also Can i record Turkish channels by using USB stick and while watching bbc or say itv etc at the same time ?

Can you recommend any other good receiver for Turksat ?

Thank you
