Does anyone have any objection to throwing it open at this point? There aren't as many taking part in this one as previously.
OK by me Paul. Perhaps a horror film quiz after this one might whet the appetite? I have one with 50 to guess. Or have we had enough of films for the present? Perhaps it'll do until we can come up with alternatives (music or other themes).

Looks like
The Glass House
Behind the cage on the left
That just looks like a plastic bag on the grating to me but, hey, we're desperate! :-rofl2

I'm up for it but are there going to be enough answers every day so that it doesn't run for a month or more?

There is something lying on the floor near the breakwater steps, but if you try to enlarge the image it blurs to the point where it's impossible to identify. I haven't any other guesses....

Picking up on Llew's remark, I don't have any objection to the horror quiz being next. However, I think I can come up with a pop/rock based quiz using (very) cryptic clues for a future date. Any takers?

I suppose we could try one guess a day each for a few days, and if it drags a bit we could up the guesses to two a day

And fine for me too. Either or both quizzes.

To me that looks like one of those solid, horseshoe shaped bicycle locks but in two pieces.

In that case...The Bicycle Thieves (Italian 1948)

Some best guesses, would be for the beach obstacles (X looking things called Hedgehogs, meant to impale landing craft).....D-Day the 6 of June (1956), The Big Red One (1980), The Longest Day (1962), all have those on the beach.

Final (probably) round-up.

1) Dr. No
Apocalypse Now / Black Hawk Down
The French Lieutenant's Woman
Chariots of Fire
Jaws
Armageddon
U-571
Sexy Beast
The Piano
10) Brighton Rock
The Beach / On The Beach
Kes
Saving Private Ryan / D-Day the 6 of June (1956) / The Big Red One (1980) / The Longest Day (1962),
The Lost Boys
Bhaji on the Beach
Titanic
Quadrophenia
Open Water / The Frogmen
Lost and Found
20) The Glass House
The Bicycle Thieves

That makes 21 clues guessed at. With a few extra guesses thrown in.

Any more? Now's the time. I'll post the official answers later today.

Perhaps Skyfall might cover either the objects falling from the, er, sky, or the comet/meteor.

I've had a sneaky peak at the answers and I have to say we've not done too badly on this one.

And here are the answers:

01= The Bicycle Thief - Broken Bike Lock
02= The Piano - A Grand Piano On The Beach
03= The Beach - Hot Air Bags With Names On
04= Apocalypse Now - Helicopters
05= Open Water - Scuba Divers
06= Jaws - Shark Fin
07= Dr No - Ursula Andress
08= Quadrophenia - Broken Deck Chairs
09= Shirley Valentine - Red Table And Chair On The Beach
10= The French Lieutenant's Woman
11= Sexy Beast - Fat Sunbather Wearing Yellow Trunks
12= Chariots Of Fire - Runners In Old-Fashioned Sports Kit
13= Titanic - 'White Star' Piece Of Broken Wood Washed Up
14= The Lost Boys - 'Missing' Pictures On The Information Sign
15= Kes - Kestrel On Railings
16= Saving Private Ryan - Beach Defences
17= Godzilla - Broken Pier End
18= Deep Impact - Comet
19= Bhaji On The Beach - Bhaji In The Sand
20= The Hunt For Red October - Submarine

I think we all did pretty well. Some observations:

The rack with beach tools on appears to be a red herring.
Bhaji on the Beach is correct but I'm damned if I can see any.
The Beach is correct but I don't understand why.
Godzilla because of the state of the pier? Give me a break!

Yeah, the pier one was a bit misleading. I thought the rides and amusements on it would at least point to some other film.
