Hi !
Just an information
after a lot of time I found the original polarmount of 6346 dish.
At the moment I use Proform h-180 motor , but it's' not enough for the antenna in KU, so I am going to install original POlarmount:
the question is:
I see there are only three declination set-up, for use in KU band I'm afraid not so good:
any idea?
Someone who use this antenna know about it?
many thanks

Do you also have the mount itself or just a drawing? I do not see fine declination control at all, just couple of S and L holes which allow to adjust declination.

Many thanks, of course I have this manual.
What i Mean is that in late 80's , or better earlier 90's , when 10" smc 6346 came , it was a C-BAND antenna product, so for 4GHz, an error for example in declination angle has certain importance, in KU band, with a third of C-BAND aperture angle even a few decimals of grade i think it is important, so I am interested in an experienced guy who have this antenna with original polar mount , using for ku purposes and what about alignment problem with set-up indicated in manual
MANY THANKS

A little less analogue, and a lot more crap.

The prime focus antennas from Channel Master (1.8 and 2.4m) require careful setting up to get the performance stated in the manual, I doubt the 3m is going to be different. As with all prime focus , segmented antennas , stringing, bore sighting and focal distance will be the minimum to get close to the specifications by the manufacturer.

Age, corrosion, use and storage of the panels and feed system will also be risks to overcome, though in your favour, the weight and characteristics of the SMC material means you could get away with things that metal reflector panels can't cope with.

[Here is image of top of polarmount, the same bottom.
As you can see the 3 declinations setup are combining inside and outside tap, manual refers for example > 42°lat( 46,3 mine )

So , I need to modify the Polarmount to tracking arc in KU, is it correct?
thanks

No, this is the same for KU, KA, C, X etc (you can add a 2nd actuator if you need to track or scan inclined satellites)

for KU band , your antenna (polarmount) must be perfectly set with a very fine tune adjust.

Don't expect it to perform very well in KU band, the reception in KU will be similar to a channel master 1.8

I hope it will be quite different!!!
I have PRODELIN 1183( i guess similar to CM 1,8m, and a PRODELIN 1305 just to be installed next summer
Do you test it and compare with 1,8m ?

Its not my dish, but the dish in question is not made with the correct wavelength for KU, it main focus is C band @nelson_b will tell you tests done.

The focus will remain the same, but the tolerance of the reflector when new has never been rated for the higher frequencies.

Being a respectable make, you might find it does perform satisfactorily, but the specifications within the manual are for 4GHz only since that was the reason for manufacture.

Be prepared to take the reflector apart a number of times, moving panels around for the best fit.

And, what about PRODELIN 1305, 3mSMC ( 8 petals... )in KU what can I expect(in case of regular assembling etc)?
This antenna is similar to Nelson's antique Prodelin Project, but it has his polarmount , 4 leg/feed
and a strange feed( not corrugated )
And it has f/d 0.3, very short focal length.
These are next summer jobs..........;-)
