My Satellite Setup
Dish setup: 80cm Motorized Dish, TM-5402 HD M3. This setup goes from 1w to 28.2e

My computer setup: AMD Athlon II X4 645 3.10 GHz processor and 8GB of ram. Graphics Card is NVIDIA GTX 750 Ti. OS: Windows 10 64 Bit
My Location
Hucknall, United Kingdom
The 97cm Technomate Motorised Satellite Dish + Motor + LNB & Fittings £119.95 is £6 cheaper than the 80cm set up on that site & much better for the FTA TV you desire.
well i dont want it too big, for my needs 80cm is fine and i got big budget anyway

My Satellite Setup
1.2M Channel Master, 1224 motor, VU+ Duo 2
My Location

A lot, probably including:
42E, 39E, 28.2E, 23.5E, 19.2E, 16E, 13E, 10E, 9E, 7E, 4.9E, 0.8W, but different satellites have different beams, satellite footprints, and most feeds require a larger dish than normal channels.
Why not check out lyngsat, and see what's available, on various satellites:

My Satellite Setup
80cm Motorised.
Several small Dishes.
Much else.
My Location
North York Moors
Add to the above 11W, 12.5W, 15W, 22W, 30W, 45W, 33E and 36E

Also some TPs on 21.5E, and some TPs on 26E

Even the odd TP on 4W can be possible.

To get most FTA TV you will need a HD receiver as a SD receiver cannot resolve DVB-S2.

That's an open ended question!

Yes you should see most of the satellites, you won't have much margin for rain fade.

Excellent project John - Im sure you will be fascinated as to whats available out there away from Sky / Freesat.

Before you start trying to set up motorised I would strongly advise you spend a couple of days just setting up a static dish and finding some of the stronger satellites like 13E, 19E 46E, 52.5E, 5E etc and just getting some results. I guarantee the time wont be wasted and you will know the receiver & lnb are working correctly. I got very excited the first time I saw 13E - (way back in the analogue days and getting Egypt in Arabic was thrilling!) and that basically set up my long term love for our hobby.

I suggest this simply because going motorised from a cold start has a lot of variables, and if you cant get any results in a few days you are going to get dispirited.

As to the receiver question, well receivers are very much a personal preference. However the TM5402 is fairly easy to use, and many of us on the forum have used them. They do have a few issues, but are pretty much bomb proof for beginners. As a complete beginner I would recommend you avoid the linux receivers. They can be tricky beasts and with dozens of options to play with its easy to stuff them up.

When it rains very heavy or snows I loose signals on some satellites with my 88cm dish but you may be ok with an 80cm dish on these satellites:-
Astra-2 @ 28.2 east,Astra-1 @ 19.2 east,Hotbird @ 13 east & Hispasat @ 30 west.

Poor choice of receiver in my opinion no support here for channel lists ect so I hope you can navigate through the menu's ? or find a site that supports this receiver.

You might want to get a cheap satellite meter, if you haven't got one already, it makes finding satellites a lot easier.
Even the basic model, for under £10, will do the job.

1I used to run a site called Analoguesat.co.uk which had all the info on, but its not been live for about 4 years. You can still find some of the info on archive sites.
