Standing looking at the lnb, with my back to the dish, I have the direct TVs lnb on the right hand side of the prime focus lnb, with a dialectic plate, (made from old bank card) in the nearest lnb hole as my HV 22khz on, And I use the right hand side as my LR 22khz off.

The bbc makes it 18ghz and really needs to be on one cable only.

On bbc is 20ghz and you would have a second cable for this.

Keep in mind of course ..that the scale of Ka A is inverted so will bear no relation on a forward scanning box such as the F15 ...
To save you time or blind scanning..these are the 2 main channels data
Newsnet (Main) office ...22144V SR 3328
Unrire Nag feed 21933H SR 3109
Local osc 20250
A way back , but maybe usefull ( or allready mentioned)
About that inverted scanning with standard receiver .
Go in to the lnb settings to C-band settings and select the option where you can set your own LOF .
At the F16 (CT5000) and the TM5402 HD M3 this option has two places for LOF , I made them both 20450 .
And thats it , all frequencies are shown correct .
At C band the scale is also inverted .

Hi guys,

Finally had some time this weekend to try the SL3K4NR1-03 and SUP 2400's I bought ages ago but I'm lost....

VVziMen.png

Ive got the SUP between the LNB and the PC according to the right direction written on it, am using a LO of 17250 and have 22HZ ON.

Whats confusing Im seeing KU channels from 19e.. Which I guess is good as it confirms

A ) LNB is working
B ) The dish is still pointing at 19e during LNB swap.

So... What is the missing piece of the puzzle? The channel I was trying to find was Unire Sat at 18766 H / 3110 as I assumed it would be stronger than ITN Newsnet

In the middle of that triple unit is the Ku circulair lnb .
I stuffed that port with lead to stop the Ku signal .

Ill go find some Aluminum tape and cover it up. Do you think it's just a case of the Ku band overwhelming the Ka then?

Yep, block the centre Ku port up really good with some lead as Trust says otherwise the results can get very confusing. Also remember that the SL3 will be working in circular mode if you have left it un-modded. When on 19.2°East the strongest signal on Horizontal is the horse racing feed at 18.766 H and also look for the ITN Newsnet signal at 18.556V.
It's a bit of a steep learning curve using an SL3 but interesting. Good luck with it.

I tried that also at first but still the Ku signal came in .
You have to stuff the channel full.
That unit receive Ka and Ku at the same time , so maybe the chosen Ka horn is not properly adjusted to 19.2 or your SUP is ot working .
Did you modified the SUP ?

I'll buy some lead shot and fill the hole and see if that helps.

SUP wise yes it is unmodified, Is it fairly easy to do if needed?

Forget the lead shot idea, they will drop straight down onto the pcb antennas and cause a few problems. Look for some off cuts of roofing lead flashing type stuff and make a good thick precise fit plug. You can finish it off with a bit of sticky back ali tape though. If you have not modified the sup then you wont be on the 18GHz part of the Ka band. The dedicated thread to modding the SL3 and the sup's are required reading and as to how difficult it is to modify the sup, well lets say there's not too much involved but is a bit intricate, needs a very steady hand and a correct size soldering iron and a good level of soldering skills

This one? Modding the SUP-2400

Looks doable for me. I was under the impression though you could access KA A by just sending 22hz to the LNB per the following thread SL3 lnb port assignment

I have just been told about this thread, total newbie here with ka band. Am I likely to receive anything from newsnet with a 1m dish and the needed SL3 type LNB ? Which one exactly out of these is suitable ? sl3 lnb | eBay

Thankfully for the likes of Vipersan & Llew on this forum for experimentation & modification details of the lnb & SUP-2400 in the early days of 18GHz reception, it is possible to have some degree of success. BUT- trust me, it is a ball-ache to operate and get the most out of it - even for experienced twiddlers. The whole thread needs reading carefully to hopefully give the reader an insight to understand that it is not a simple 'plug & play' job.
Instead of buying anything from the States (import duties & postage is extortionate)... it might be worth asking on the forum for any surplus members SL3 lnb's & Sup-2400 that have already been modified. A 1mtr offset dish will give reasonable results but has it's limitations.

18GHz band - Vertical, getting a bit busy.... but not via an SL3 sorry to say. Just showing whats there. Have known it to be even more full of carriers than this at election times etc.

The old base has moved, so this time around it will get a substantial base.

Plus I need some more cables putting in. So as bits turn up I am adding it all in.

Hopefully it won’t take me to much longer.

For accurate readouts I use the TBS card and modified version 1.0.1.88 crazyscan ...which Crazycat kindly modified for me to allow this Ka band A scale.
With this I use LOF of 20451...(20450 is close enough).

Hello Vipersan

Could you please kindly send me this version of the CrazyScan by e-mail. I only work with a PC card and I have a huge problem with my modified Inverto KA-band LNB.

thanks dreamsat
