You'll be fine with that L bracket but all the points raised by CH are still valid. The other thing that TKs offer you are a much easier mechanism to get that pole 100% vertical. Not all walls are straight!

I know T&K are good, but where this dish is going and being sheltered I don't need them, lots of people use L brackets for motorised dishes and I've seen 1.3m dishes on ones much less substantial.

Also I've paid for this bracket and begrudge buying anything else as I'm not just going to throw this away. As for getting it plumb I've used washers before.

Off to get some fresh resin and get this up.

Any reutable dealer would refund you for the mount since it does not look suitable for the job in hand without a lot of preparation (and advice). Did it come from one of the site sponsors ?

T&K Yes, those no and you can't plumb them easily.
????? Why not? You can move the pole left or right in the slots and if you wish to adjust the distance from the wall you place shims in the bracket. My pole is 0.1 degree out.

Agree with TJ, it's very easy to get a pole absolutely plumb with T&K mounts. I used an L mount on my first couple of motorised setups and trying to get it level by using washers was a bit of a nightmare. Do you not want to use T&K's for asthetic reasons? (I.E. your OH objects...)

I live in the middle of woodlands and it's built on national trust ground. So aesthetics mainly.

I agree T&K are better, but what TJ suggested are not T&K, They are not as good as a flat plate, the only benefit they have is the weight is spaced further across the wall.

Channel Hopper,

The only prep is me finding a suitable wall fixing, lots of people use Thunderbolts, throughbolts or plastic rawlplugs with coachbolts. As a genuine sufferer of OCD I have to get decent fixings.

Not a sponsor I don't think, it seems better than every other L bracket I've seen. And the cost of shipping back will be more than what it cost.

Could the dish be better off ground mounted?

These are much better.
There is nothing to stop downward force, I've tried these previously.
If they had a K they would be much better :)

Yeah they look good, the only issue with those over traditional T&K is you have to pack them to adjust them plumb rather than slide the U bolts forward and back.

These are similar to the "spider" brackets that SSS sell but less sturdy. I much prefer those for stability and robustness but it's still generally a pain getting the pole plumb on those.

I drilled the holes to put the resin and threads in, I have Fischer mortar stuff.
I didn't hit any frogs but the bricks were much shorter than I thought and came out the other side of them, so I went out and bought plastic sleeves and drilled the holes to 16mm with my SDS drill, I can't see how these sleeves will work though. I've put them in and then filled with resin and fitted 2 studs, but surely the resin coming out of these tiny holes in the sleeve is not enough?

Surely the sleeves are going to stop the mortar attaching to the brickwork?
I used it last weekend for studs for a groundstand in concrete, I just hoovered the dust out all the holes I had drilled, filled the hole then inserted the studding. It's now holding a 1.8 dish with no probs.

Yes that's my thought exactly, but my bricks have been drilled all the way through so no idea how to stop it just pouring in the cavity.
