I wish it would stop raining today! Trying to play with my dish and getting soaked!!
Anyone else using the Inverto Black Ultra, how far on the neck have you clamped it for focus?

That depends!

The flexibility of adjustment the long neck provides means you can easily find the right position empirically, for your own dish.

To be honest, I've always found middle-for-diddle best, and sliding it in or out a bit (Ooh, err, Missus) wasn't that critical, especially in relation to other factors such as skew.

I have always used mine in the middle of the feed, as @Lazarus said.

Skew made the biggest difference. What sat are you setting the dish up on?

Just having a mess around at the moment, I put it in the middle so I'll leave it there then. Skew is on 0 atm.

I set it up on Thor, was just watching stuff on 30w for a bit and got wet so came back in to dry off!

On a 1m dish whats the furthest sats W and E I should be able to pick up?

Somewhere in England (possibly?)!
Mainly only feeds and data beyond 30W (at least on Ku band)

Currently, but give it a year or so and that region will get quite popular - 34 W for example, and 47.5 W (which might already be online)

Right, undecided where to put the dish!
On the current wall it can do 65e-65w, however it sticks out a lot more than I expected! That is a footpath to a school that runs past my house.
If I put it on the other wall I can do 65e - 45-50w ish.

Sounds like a good best plan on that other way- and then, presumably,:
- at least 2 of the bolts/studs would then go into solid brickwork all the way through
- should be much easier and more convenient to make motor/dish adjustments from within your garden, rather from on the path
- it would be less tempting for children to "play" with the dish as they walk past!

Those studs are not going anywhere by the way, that bracket can take my weight. I'm shocked how well that chemical resin mortar system works.
You can't touch the dish from the pathway, I'm 6ft and can't reach it, I can just about touch the arm if I jump high enough but thats with the tip of my finger.
Also there is a path the other side of that fence that my door is in so I can do all the adjustments my side. But walking down the path it just looks so inviting for kids to climb the fence and mess around.

The only concern on the other wall is it might only be 40w I can hit, I've estimated 45-50 but thats just placing things up there as best as I can.

Your choice then, but, since CH's says there won't be much beyond 30W for a year or so (and another question is what Ku-band stuff would you get with a 1m dish beyond 45W) then maybe mount the dish as per the 2nd shot, with the option of moving it later if you find the further West sat be limiting.

OTOH, with 2 sets of mounting studs, you could put a dish & motor on each of them!:)

PS: might be a good idea to look at sat info sites like flysat, lynngsat and Kingofsat to get some idea of what sats are already in orbit and what's going up in the next few years, and what bands they will use.

Yes I can track the arc to 58 west ready for new satellites,
The only active Ku band transponder that I have stored is a dummy test channel on 45.1 west using a data stream on 11452 V 2314.

I might see about swapping this for a shorter bracket and putting it up a bit higher if things are going to start popping up on the West.

The dish only needs to be 'two drunk' high for trouble, and that's not including stones, cans or catapults.
