Advice Needed 2nd hand Technisat Multytenne arrived dented - will it still work?

Probably. He would certainly have tried this (straightening dents) before. Might be more expensive if you insist on a VAT receipt. As an alternative, try bringing a really cold six-pack of something good-quality and leaving it casually on the counter next to the bent dish face when inquiring.
 
You might be able to rig up your own form to straighten it up. Something like a shallow frame containing some wet sand. Lay the dish on the sand to support it, pack plenty of sand around & under it then you can put more pressure on the crease without too much of a risk of bending it the other way. It'll never be perfect but any reduction will be an improvement.
 
If the dish is not distorted and merely dented then it may be easier to "fill" the dent with car body filler mixed with metallic powder. Try "stringing" the face to find if it is distorted. Aluminium is extremely difficult to panel beat. I still have my late father's panel beating hammers and dollies (used on opposite side of panel to the hammer). He was a panel beater up to 40 years ago on Rolls Royce and Jaguar bodyshells in the rectification area at the local Pressed Steel (BMC) body plant.

To me the dent seems to protrude towards the LNB...

No filler is not the answer :)
I don't think he can make it any worse buy pushing the dent back, anything will be an improvement.
 
You could maybe try a bit of planishing yourself. Clamp something curved in a vice and then keeping the dish moving tap gently with a hammer over the damaged area. I've used this on soft materials like copper and had pretty good results

I've got a single sat version of that dish in the garage, it's scruffy, but not as far as I can remember dented. If you want the face on it's own, it's yours for the postage.
