Hello everyone.
I have what is probably a strange set-up, which has suited my needs well. I live in a small flat and wanted lots of languages.
I have a rectangular Selfsat satellite I installed on the roof, aimed at Hotbird 13. I lead the coax through to an Edision Piccollo 3-in-1 receiver. This is hooked up to a Nebula Apollo mini projector that I use as my TV. The Edision receiver has one CI slot and one additional card slot.
I use a Kabelio CI module, which is a fantastic new service. I thought satellites were a dying technology when I got into the above set-up, to be honest, so I was heartened to see a brand new satellite service matching my needs. In between Kabelio and the Freeview channels, I end up with quality channels in all the languages I am interested in for the price of a Netflix subscription (for Kabelio).
However, the Italian selection was always poor and this bothered me. At the same time, I was aware of the Italian Freeview Tivùsat card, which only has to be purchased once and would then plug the gaps in my Italian channel section with great channels like RaiMovie.
Anyway, I recently took the plunge and bought the Tivùsat card and CAM module. I saw that my Edision receiver is sometimes sold in combo deals online alongside the Tivùsat card (without CAM), and so I imagined I would find a way to get it working alongside the Kabelio CAM thanks to the extra card slot. I figured I would buy the Tivùsat CAM alongside the card just to be sure. Unfortunately, I was wrong. I have no idea how to get them working together, only separately.
I really don't want to switch cards constantly, as I know that in practice I won't bother, or won't enjoy it, because it is a hassle.
My Edision receiver has a CI slot alongside a regular card slot. Kabelio has to go in the CI slot for sure, since there is no card involved there. The problem, then, is how I could get Tivùsat working alongside Kabelio on my Edision Piccollo receiver. As far as I can tell, either I need another CI slot (receivers with two CI slots seem to be prohibitively expensive), or I need to find a way to get Tivùsat working directly in the extra card reader slot, without the CAM module thingy (ideal solution).
I would really appreciate any advice, as I have been struggling with this for a while. Although I would not mean to ask anyone to go to excessive trouble to spoon feed me, if anyone is aware of some complicated software workaround, I would appreciate it if you could at least point me in the right direction to read into what I need to do, so that I might be able to figure out how to get things working. I am far from being an expert in any of this.
