After not viewing any British Television, for a great many years, I was forced to view some, as I wasn't home, but looking after my parents house, and unfortunately I quickly noticed all the programmes that had been edited.
The first was an episode of Friends, where the Rachel character, who was pregnant, used the phrase horny bitch, which was edited out, then in an old film, Splash, they edited out the scene showing Daryl Hannah's bottom, in the statue of liberty scene.
When I got home I was curious how far this censorship went, so last night I watched part of Radio Days, on Talking Pictures, only to notice that once again they edited out a brief shot of a female bottom, then this morning, in the Two Ronnies, where they again edited out Madeline Smith's, brief nudity.
As I haven't viewed British television, for over 20 years, which explains my old references, is this now the norm, that any, and all Female, nudity, including the naked bottom, are edited out, and is this the same for male nudity?
Perhaps others can post examples of edited films, and television series.
I did notice that the lyrics to A fairytale in New York, also appears to have been edited, changing the lyrics, from "You cheap lousy faggot, to you're cheap and you're haggard, blanking out the lines, or sometimes playing the full version.
A lot of viewers, or listeners, of British televsion, and radio listeners, might never know of this editing policy, as they've never viewed, or listened, to original versions of films, television programmes, or songs, so have no reason to complain about this policy.
