My signal is very high but I can't watch the stream.

How you can see this IPTV stream, I posted it at #14 on another topic.
Follow it and I hope you will be able to watch Simmin TV, or listen to the radio streams. :)
 
This sat still at 27.5w ?
It disappears from Lyngsat and Flysat ...
 
901's space tug MEV1 was booked for a 5 year extension mission - that time has now elapsed so its likely 901 has been towed up to junkyard orbit & MEV1 will be moving on to its next orbital rendezvous.

EDIT - This site suggests this has indeed happened & MEV1 is moving on to an elderly Optus bird

I too had noticed a few days ago that 27.5W was missing from Lyngsat.

It's the end of an era.

I've had plenty of fond memories of the 27.5W orbital location as it was the first place I pointed my own 80cm dish at back in the early 1990s to get Discovery and CNN. Then later in the mid to late 90s when I moved to Finland I set up a 1.8m dish at my parents' house to pick up BBC TV Europe, plus Wire TV (a short-lived UK cable channel) and the BFBS radio stations. Then, of course, more recently, from 2008 I'd used this same orbital position to pick up the BBC Satback channels on a 70cm dish from my apartment balcony.
 
That has to be the end for 27.5W. No sign of any replacement satellite & with the abundance of optical fibre running across the Atlantic operators have almost certainly switched to ip delivery
 
If there is no replacement satellite in position within two years (barring launch incidents) then the operator loses the slot and it goes out to tender.

I would suspect something will be drifting over to 27.5 W in due course.
 
I wonder where all the Irish & NI radio feeds that were on 27.5W have now gone to?

From what I've heard, at least some of them have moved to alternatives (non-sat) - some of those Irish ones like iRadio suddenly have dynamic RDS data via the FM transmitters ("now playing" text) where they didn't when using IS 27.5W.
 
In memory of good old days on 27.5W.....
Brightstar in NTSC on C band using an Echostar 4500. The IC-R7000 was for SCPC audio.

Intelsat V at the time showed many channels that eventually migrated over to European slots, then disappeared.

Anyone remember Prem1ere, or CMT ?

I think CMT and MTV (both USA versions) must have been there between '86 & '90. They are not in this 1991 list.

One of the most entertaining at the time was NTA Ch 10 Lagos broadcasting from a container in the docks. That had SCPC audio.
Whilst we're wallowing in nostalgia, does anyone else remember the NTA clock?

This is the only picture of NTA that I can find. I think it was difficult to keep the colour as it needed a the bandwidth reduced some of the time to maintain lock.

I think CMT was on after -90 since I got my first motorised system with an 1,5 meter antenna -91 or maybe -92. CMT was weak as hell.

Talking about the Intelsat 6-series I also remember having a 1,8 m antenna fixed at 63 E getting the Mediaset package (Italia 1, Rete 4 and Canale 5) from IS 602 there. Also pretty weak but fully watchable. Much easier getting them when they moved to Hotbird of course. Nowadays encrypted but still able to get with the right equipment. :)

Will Intelsat bother though - we all know satellite tv is now in a slow decline in the west due to various factors including

The ongoing roll out of fast broadband
The fact that the channels are desperate for all that lovely data on viewing habits which they can then monetize
The operators can also try to upsell premium services to viewers
Individually targeted adverts with ip delivered tv.


We already know Channel4 are developing plans to shut down most of the linear tv channels & go for iptv delivery only.
