What wind?, according to the Daily Mail (Don't worry I never read their p*she) it's a dry weekend ahead of some Ice Blast that's to hit the UK this week coming, think their doing a "BBC special" i.e. talking about the U.K. when they mean the South of England because that's all the U.K. consists of........deary me

10 years later & the one on the Bridge Inn Galashiels is still there - I saw it this afternoon

It would have been 31W but its not been pointing at anything for the last 20 years or so. Not one of the pubs I ever frequented more than once or twice in the 20 years or so I lived in Gala - its not got a particularly good reputation.

This could be the world's highest extant Squarial:

SK4 - Stockport

Have done a Google Street View link rather than an embedded image, as it means we can keep an eye out for changes in future years...

Speaking of which, I've been geolocating Squarials from online images here and elsewhere, and now have a list of 60 or more Street View links to extant and removed Squarials.

Would be happy to post, and as a newcomer I can see nothing specific in the forum rules about this, but back in post #25 here there was some concern about identifying the exact addresses of Squarial-sporting homes. I can't quite see the objection - it's not likely that the houses will attract gawpers, or have their precious Squarials stolen - potential thieves, rather than visiting with their ladder in the dead of night, should try knocking on the door during the day and saying "I'll take that thing off your wall if you give me £50 for my trouble"

That Squarial seems to be pointing towards the east if the Amstrad dish and the map orientation is anything to go by. That's nowhere near where BSB used to be in the west.

I don't think so. There was one on a wall in Archway Road, near Holloway London that would have required a cherry picker to install.

Thanks, that's an interesting one as it appears to be pointing more easterly than westerly... perhaps some cheeky urchin swivelled it round at some point post-1990...

Thanks, I managed to geolocate some of the Galashiels ones you'd posted early in the thread.

Although I hunted for this one on Google Maps without any success... can you recall where it was/is?

And this one... would that have been here, behind what is now Greggs and where the Evri Parcel Shop pin is? (and so sadly out of sight of Street View)

Anyway it seems that Galashiels was unusually keen on BSB - maybe there was a great local salesperson in Rumbelows or whatever there... or maybe terrestrial reception in the area was poor...?

Thanks - I was too impatient to wait though so I had a shufti round on Street View - there's a lot of development of big apartment complexes there (not sure if they're post-1990 or pre-1990) so I couldn't get around them all.

Eventually I turned up what I think is a BSB minidish though, was this the one you're thinking of?
