Ses Want Frequency Of Eutelsat

I wonder which beam those two new data transponders are using:
28.2E-1N2FE28041013.webp

strs65 has them weaker than those new 2F PE transponders... maybe they are on 1N as well ?

11008V locks at 5.5dB, but 11185V doesn't (due to 16APSK modulation I suppose).

28low.webp

In any case the frequencies above 12670 MHz don't lock here, too weak...

I have two Sky HD boxes here. The EPG of one appears to have updated to point to the new 2F transmissions (S4C, Euronews ..) but the other doesn't. Anyone know if this is normal?

Have you tried rebooting the out-of-date one?

Just waiting for it to finish recording "Tipping Point" then will do.

[Straw Clutching]Ah, I wonder if the fact it's recording has suspended the EPG update, somehow?[/Straw Clutching]

Don't think so. The EPG updated this morning and it hasn't been recording all day. Not to worry. I am sure a reboot will sort it.

the new 2F TPs are not in NIT yet.... only interim TPs are currently used by the EPG.

@huve: you get a strong signal of those two new data transponders... so they are def. not 2F PE - so no 2F signals on 11.45-12.5 bands yet.

Oh I see. I read in the forums Sky had updated their EPG "pointers". Flysat reports S4C went E2A Steerable -> 2F UK -> 2F PE. Of those beams, I only receive 2F PE so one of my EPGs must be pointing there I think!

I think 2F is going to be hard in Helsinki but have you updated your receiver's frequency list? Those are now out of date and will not receive anything even if you have a signal.

These are the ones currently transmitting from 2F:
12.515GHz/H SR 22.0 FEC 5/6
12.522GHz/V SR 22.0 FEC 5/6
12.545GHz/H SR 22.0 FEC 5/6
12.552GHz/V SR 22.0 FEC 5/6
12.574GHz/H SR 23.0 FEC 8/9 8PSK DVB-S2
12.581GHz/V SR 22.0 FEC 5/6
12.604GHz/H SR 22.0 FEC 5/6
12.611GHz/V SR 22.0 FEC 5/6
12.633GHz/H SR 22.0 FEC 5/6
12.640GHz/V SR 22.0 FEC 5/6
12.663GHz/H SR 22.0 FEC 5/6
12.670GHz/V SR 22.0 FEC 5/6

Is it possible to recover from the inclined orbit? i.e. could 2D have been prematurley put in inclined orbit, so that it could be bought back on stream should 1N have failed until another craft could take over again?

Theoretically yes - with sufficient station keeping fuel on board - which is unlikely as the whole reason for running inclined in the first place is lack of fuel!

Would be good to get a 2F PE map reception report going... Analoguesat? :)

Well that'll keep me amused this weekend. :D

Think we need some ground rules though like we did before. A separate thread would be better as this one is for more general discussion. Give me chance to drink my cuppa and I'll think about the basic ground rules & set a thread up.

It's a result from blind scan. Look at the spectrum, it's flat in the bottom at 12,5 - 12,7 GHz.

Yeah, I saw that. Sadly, I can't say I'm surprised. At least we can enjoy a few shopping channels that are left on 28A...

Someone on a local forum here in Gran Canaria is reporting they CANNOT receive any of these TPs on an 90cm dish (using Sky "Add Channels"). Looks like the 120 cm dish size in the SES footprint may be correct for the 2F PE beam. Very odd knowing the history of the Canaries "spot" for birds at this orbital location. I am trying to get some more details of his set-up.

Right what Im going to do is set the thread up but not open it for business until SES start turning off some of the interim tp's Otherwise we are going to end up getting reports from the 11xxx MHz frequencies mixed in. It will also give folk a couple of days to see how their reception varies during 24 hours

Good idea, I was thinking about this problem too. We need to find channels that are exclusively on the 2F PE beam to make it simple.
