Nowai. You need a HD box for this, mate. Can the channels on this sat be opened & viewed on a technomate 1500ci?
Good Morning,
Thank you for your recent email.
The system we are recommending to receive BBC1 HD, BBC2 HD, ITV1 HD, CH4 HD, BBC THREE HD, BBC FOUR, BBC NEWS, BBC PARLIAMENT, BBC ONE WALES, BBC ONE SCOTLAND, BBC ONE NORTHERN IRELAND and all BBC Radio 123456. This part of the system does not use the internet in any way.
We need to install an 80cm Dish aligned to Intelsat 907 at 27.5 degrees the cost for this is 170euros.
We also need to program the box with 5 levels of encryption for this there is a cost of 100 euros.
Further there is only one type of Satellite Receiver that can operate with this system and that is as follows
TECHNOMATE 5402 HD M2 CI
it is available online through amazon or other providers.
Please Note
The service is encrypted and when that encryption is changed the service may be OFF for maybe a week to 10 days until the code is found and programmed into the box.
The code changes approximatly every 3 months.
When this happens you can bring the box to us for a fee of 5 euros or call out to do this is 20 euros.
On a side note though, I find it interesting that British culture is superior when Britain comes to advertising it, yet they're still locking out outsiders to view their TV programs, which are in no doubt is a huge source of culture. I am sorry, but I find this highly hypocritical and arrogant.
There is no option to pay that fee, and even if there was, what would be the point, now that there is no signal? However, I'd definitely consider paying for the BBC, rather than pay for our crappy services here. As for the hypocritical part, I was referring to the idea of "let's spread the British culture", then when it comes to television, "let's restrict it as much as possible".As someone from outside the UK thus not paying a subscription fee you may find it arrogant but must be understandable if you are or have been watching for free. I suspect not everyone in the UK who has to pay a license fee in order to watch and finance the productions, would agree with your viewpoint. I have absolutely no idea what you find hypocritical about their stance.
Absolutely no con there. It is describes exactly what the situation would be for someone taking such an option. In my opinion it makes it very clear to the customer what they are getting themselves into. The only thing that they have failed to mention is that it is possible that at some point in the future the transmissions will stop completely or the encryption system will change and frankly that looks more like oversight than a deliberate attempt to mislead. Even the pricing looks reasonable to me.This is the Sort of response that seems to be doing the rounds at the moment on some of the Ex-Pat site's
A Con if i ever did read one and hope no one falls into the trap:

i mostly agree with you...not sure about the cultural aspect...but it does seem that overly meticulous measures are taken to prevent signal overspill, and as such, quite unparalleled compared to other european countries. There is no option to pay that fee, and even if there was, what would be the point, now that there is no signal? Yep, can't be long now before this "loophole" gets shut down. Heard rumours that cable companies are using this too now. It's a shame these things always turn commercial it gets ruined for everyone...
