If you paid with Paypal/credit debit card. Then you could use the distance selling regulations.

Credit/debit card providers have to comply with it.

As it is clearly not what you ordered its well worth a punt.

Indeed it is Llew ..
As it didnt break the bank to buy ..I am of course interested and curious enough to keep it and investigate it's innards ..
Still doesn't fill my need for an unmodded -01 ...

Indeed VS, which was the sole purpose of the purchase .... we'll see what happens.

So ..since I'm the first to receive my unknown SL3 I figured it might as well be tested ..
..as my bracket on Carl makes for an easy swap with no alignment issues.
Tested without cap fitted and no plates ..thus a combined H and V scan ...
2 nag feeds locked in H ...and managed a partial lock on a newsnet feed at 18558 ..
Gainwise it looks good ..

Currently using the 6983 ..on account it can handle the higher current demands of my system.

I had to crack this open didn't I..

Very compact indeed ..
smaller than other versions...and I suspect later design since this one also is mostly surface mount component design.
like other versions except the -o2 ...does not use the 'anex chamber design ' ..so doesn't lend itself to true linear conversion.
That was to be expected ...butI shall investigate this further..
certainly there's no sending it back now..

Looks like I will have to wait to scan Ka tonight as the USA are flying an F15 over the top of me. And the ber is jumping well above figures the tbs can handle.:-(

Both dishes ..
Both SL3s ..
Modded -03 and unmodded -03
11 >12 db one minute ..
brief picture breakthrough ...then seconds later ..
zero db ..
I'm frustrated and VERY confused..

That's using the F15 ..

on the TBS card the signal level is fairly constant around 11db ..
No images at all ..
VLC does not run ...and the BER is WILD ..
from zero to 0.8000000+ in seconds ...and everything in between

Settled a little topping out around 0.3000000..
brief glimpses of locked signal at this level ..
So pics when BER zero ..and nothing when high ...yet the signal level remains constant-ish.
Solar activity ?
External interference again...
Or simply them pissing about.

I think there are instability issues caused by an external source ...either Earthbound or in space

2 constellations and BER rates seconds apart..
Not getting as high as it was 10 minutes ago ..but still enough to prevent any decent lock.

An interesting circuit layout VS. A DRO for each KA section. Must've been a reason for that, unless it's a later version of the SL3, and they found it easier to align up each KA circuit separately.
