Out of curiosity - how did you remove the rust/paint?
I have a couple of fairly rusted PMs here, but sending them to be sand-blasted / hot-dip galvanised is fairly expensive!!
Would be nice if there's a more cost-effecient way that does not involve inordinate amounts of work... 8-)

I used a" flap wheel" on a grinder, in the corners i used a small grind stone (in a tool like a dremel) i also used a scraper and a file and a wire brush in a drill. the areas i could get at with the flap wheel were easy! the rest was just" elbow grease"

Jut curious again - what's wrong with the old ones? Are the worn?

I haven't gotten to the point of taking mine apart yet - they may be screwed or just fine...
(the bushing on one of them has never seen any movement - was fixed with a steel bar for 20 years - can't be that worn...)
 
The bottom bush had play in it! up and down movement. i could move the dish and see movement at the bottom bush.

The part no is : aif 08 1008 they seem to be availible from several online suppliers just google, i got mine from a local bearing supplier.
 
The polarmount is now finished all nuts and bolts renewed in inoxIMG_0485a.webp IMG_0484a.webp
i ordered some inox m4 bolts and washers for the feedhorn, also because the plastic end cap is broken i've ordered some petglite plastic sheet as used in the sign industry as a replcement. this is a experiment i got a small a5 sheet and providing i can cut it ok it should last a long time.

I get on with pens better than computer keyboards:D i served my time as a hgv mechanic, although havent worked on trucks for years. keep my hand in by pottering in the shed/garage.

Thanks its plane to see with your workmanship you have hand on skills:) , I will be building a little workshop shortly when I am doing things atm its a pain, ive been using the summer house but that has to stop I only have a few weeks to finishing it.

I will look forward to your install:).
 
The next bit is a two man/ladders job, remove the old dish and get the new one up without any disasters!
l have also got to decide what to do about the actuator the one on the precision is a superpowerjack which cant have much time left. i found an old"manhattan" badged actuator in the sat gear stash which is on the bench for investigation or do i bite the bullit and try and get a new superjack if i can find one ( begining to sound like vs. now:-rofl2)
 
Update: this weekend put the new plastic cover on the feedhorn, the plastic is 0.5mm thick so i could cut it ok with large scissors hopefully it will last as its uv stabillised. the lnb holder i had was split (although it was glued) i replaced this with the good condition one i picked up from TJExcaliber in the week (thank you). the dish was covered in the usual blackstuff spent a hour cleaning this! i found a crack in the edge which i repaired with 2 rivets and a strip of aluminium.IMG_0490a.webp IMG_0491a.webp sorry about the second picture i didnt notice it was blurred when i took it, the dish is now up the pole and its raining so wont take another. all fixing bolts changed to inox.
