Somewhere in England (possibly?)!
The Rotordyne - reputedly one of the noisiest aircraft ever built, which was unfortunate as it was intended for transport between city centres!

I go glow worm hunting during warm summer evenings and take pictures of them.

I've seen glow worms in the hedgerow at our place in France. Although not for a few years now. It's possible we're not there at the right time of course.

I find the best time here is late July but it might be slightly different in France.

Here being the UK or Finland?

Given that I'm constricted to school holiday times ATM it would have to have been either end week of May or end two weeks in July going through August. I'm leaning towards July but couldn't swear to it.

UK. We have a good few spots down in the south east for glowworms. They seem to like the chalky hillsides and railways in the Chiltern/Thames Valley area.

Only ever seem them once here. All I can recall is that it was during the summer and about ten years ago (Actually it may have been the 'heatwave' summer, so 2003?)

I was in Switzerland that summer during that heatwave but I can't remember exactly when it was though. I do remember seeing on the news about the high number of deaths in France due to the heat.

It was the 2003 one I was thinking of, as we had a dicky alternator on the Astra which kept overheating....the daytime temperatures were well into the high 90's and topping over 100F for one or two days...

And it was the 2006 one that I was thinking of as I had just got my new car and it had aircon which I used to its full extent on the trip down through France. I remember stepping out of the car in a supermarket car park and it was like entering a blast furnace!
