Good afternoon from a misty Mullion Cove Cornwall.

Due to high winds and sea salt my diseqc motors last about 12 months, the constant buffering of the winds causing play in the drives, even the latest metal ones.

Adjusting helps but as a lot of the wear is in the parked position side on to the west winds, adjusting tightened it up too much else where.

The Aluminium dish I purchased from The Satellite superstore a year or so ago has always been low gain, though they did not want to do anything about it.

The paint has now peeled off the bracket, a very poor job.

There does not appear to be a lot of choice on suppliers of systems, so I have been looking at a 1.2 Channel Master dish with their home made mount and Jacks : -

_satellitesuperstore.com/satellite_diseqc_motors_36_volt_motors.htm#36vhtoh"]Satellite dish motors. Primesat DISEqC motors. 36 volt Superjack actuators. Polar mounts. Inclined orbit motors. Technomate motors.

They are also offering an inclined orbit motor on the larger sizes, but not as yet for the 1.2 size set up.

I have asked them on several occasions if I could fit the inclined orbit motor to the 1.2 size bracket, but the owner has always skipped the question.

One time when he was away his stand in said he did no see why not, but again when the owner returned he skipped the question.

Why the heck people cannot just say yes or no I have no idea, as my mother in law once said, ( There is nowt as queer as folk : ) that is Lancashire talk.

Have any of you gents experience of the mount they make, how are the top and bottom bearings made ?

Is the galvanising any good and the do the bolts and Jacks stand up to the weather ?

Thank you for your time.

God Bless Allen and Alanna

Gibertini make very good quality dishes, I have the 1.25 and the 1.5.

I have the Gibertini polar mount also. And on the forum, many people have added an inclined orbit actuator. But as an after market addon.

For the 1.2 and bigger you would need to get a heavy duty actuator, coupled to a heavy duty polar mount. And suppliers seem to be a bit limited for the large kit.

Hallo Chris Thank you for your reply, you are not to far away from us I see.

Do you receive Nilesat OK on the 1.2 dish at your location ?

I used to receive Nilesat on a 1.1 Triax but have lost it on this 1.25 Primsat aluminium dishPolar Mount.jpg

Is the attached image the same or simlar to your Polar Mount ?

Does it stand up to the weather or does it rust ?

How is it modified for inclined orbit, could you point me to any mods on the forum please : )

Thank you for your time.

I am not in Yeovil at the moment, but when I get back I will snap some photos for you.

with the 1.2 I can get 85% of 7°W on the 1.25, but the 1.5 is better.

Yes the polar mount is the same as mine.

Another forum member @Llew has just installed his 1.25 Just Sharing This - Gibertini PM Install there is a photo or two there.

Catch up later. And good luck. :-)

The front of the 1.5 on the Gibertini polar mount.

And the 1.25 is now on a n.p.r.m. Sat in the corner fixed on 5°E/9°E/1°W

And for quite a few years I had the 1.25 on the polar mount.

I wondered what that bracket does Chris. I haven't used mine - is it to stop the PM clamp assembly from dropping down when loosening it for adjustment? I used a pole clamp underneath.

It's to stop the polar mount slipping down the pole to keep it at the top.

I use my dish on a n.p.r.m.

OK, thanks. My PM is fixed below the pole top. I'm going to put it on top like yours; might as well use all the parts supplied.

Hallo Chris,

Thank you for the images, the installation including the bracket etc looks a lot simpler than the one I was looking at.

It gives me an alternative to think about : )

It is a pity that there is not a cover made like the golf balls that protect radar dishes, I noticed rust on the jack.

It would no doubt attenuate the signal, especially when it was wet.

I was hoping that one of the members had installed a Satellite Superstore mount for some feed back on that.

One of the reasons I was looking at their mount was because it keeps the dish close to the pole, this has got to be good in the gales we get here, our dish is one floor up as well.

Regards Allen

The jack is a clone, I got caught! And it's not lasting well, and has quite a bit of play on the stroke.

It's a superpower jack. Was sold to me as an original super jack.

My jack is an 18" on the Gibertini polar mount, but I would recommend you get the 24" jack.

Happy hunting :-)

I have a SS polar mount on my Channel Master 1.8, been on there for about 9 months, no rust as it's all galvanised. No problems, not cheap though.

Chris, did you get the dish face with the mount? Or get the mount afterwards?

As I have looked at them in the past, as they also include inclination jack?

I already had the dish face and jacks so got it cheaper as it was just the polar mount and a pole adapter Dave supplied me with.

It fits a 3inch pole, but I had a 4.5inch pole, hence the adaptor. I assume the polar mount for a 1.2 Channel Master is the same design, I have not looked on the SS site.
Remember though, these are designed to fit the back of a Channel Master dish, so you will need some sort of interface to make it fit any othe make of dish.P1010044.JPG P1010045.JPG
