I have the NVidia FX5200. Are you talking about using myTheatre, or some other software? It would seem sensible to use the graphics card's decoder if at all possible.
Thanks,
Allen
I'm at the stage of buying a card now. But which one ? How does the SkyStar2 compare to the Nexus-S ? I like the idea of a hardware decoder to take some pressure off the CPU, but is it just as capable of software decrypting using Multidec ?
Cheers,
Allen
I have been looking for quite a while now, and my latest thinking is the Accent HT-400 case (http://www.quietpc.com/uk/htpc.php#ht400). It's expensive, but takes a fullsize ATX board, looks fantastic and will fit in nicely in my sitting room.

rincewind,
In your previous post you said you thought the best idea was to use a program to switch between the 'various reception programs'. Now you say use a 'stand-alone recording suite'. These statements seem to be contradicting one another.
I've not found a stand-alone suite that can...
Hi Rincewind,
The iMon controller that comes with the HT-400 case can do program switching, so maybe that is all I need and then use whatever software comes with the individual cards.
What is a good DVB-T card that has some decent recording software ?

I recently aquired a Athlon XP-M 2200+ (35W version), so I'm going to base my system around that as it should run really cool. So that sort of discounts the Pundit. I'm looking at the Accent HT-400 case, very expensive, but looks fantastic! Tihs box also comes with a remote control built in...
Luckily I have a friend in New York who ordered it for me. I've not got it yet, but it should arrive soon. Just trying to decide exactly which motherboard would be best now.
I'm currently thinking of using the DFI NF2 Ultra Infinity. It's cheaper than the Abit and Asus boards and has...
Jaffer,
Do you have a link. The one I found it http://www.richersounds.co.uk/index.php?f=itemdetl.php&p=201310 and that costs £19.95. It doesn't mention RGB, so I would guess the Scart is on the s-video variety.

I just popped into Maplins and found this box from Trust http://www.simply.co.uk/productinformation/76944/WW/TRUST+TELEVIEWER/. It takes the VGA and can output to RGB Scart. Just what I'm looking for to give high quality display on the TV. I'm not too sure about the quality of the cables...
My only reason for Win2000 instead of XP Pro is that I have a spare copy laying around. XP is going to cost me about £100! XP Home would be cheaper, would there be any problem using that ?
Well I'd almost finalised my hardware requirements for my combined machine, when I read a posting on the dvbshop.tv forum that said you couldn't use the SkyStar2 and AirStar2 PCI cards in the same machine!
That has sort of thrown me, as I had pretty much settled on getting those cards. I'm not...
What software do people recommend for a HTPC. I also want to play DVDs as well as recording and viewing DVB-T and DVB-S.
First choice seems to be either Linux or Windows. I'm still undecided on even that. What are people's opinions ?
