Fringe reception - best to avoid Quattro/multiswitch?

It is more than .2dB either way depending on freq if you are referring to the entire frequency range. Triax TD110 11.7GHz 40.2dB Using _http://www.satcom.co.uk/article.asp?article=22 Antenna Diameter, Efficiency, Gain or Frequency Calculator That gives 10.7GHz 39.4dB, 11.7GHz 40.2dB, 12.7GHz...

Is 4W Amos2 11648H weak or do I need to prune a tree?

Quickly went out and sawed off a few branches after my last post, signal quality jumped up from 49-60 to 58-70, other channels on Amos 4W went up by 1pt and Nilesat 7W signal qualities jumped up about 5 points. So it is/was definitely the tree. Thought I better leave sawing the rest off until...

Is 4W Amos2 11648H weak or do I need to prune a tree?

Thanks, so it`s out with the saw and good buy a branch or two tomorrow. 94% signal quality, my receiver would not give that score if the satellite fell out of the sky and landed in my garden, it only gives filmfour at 28.2E 76-77 for signal quality.

    Lnb arm mod

The stickys on how to setup a dish or motorized system are good. But I think the old mod of adding washers between lnb arm and the bracket at the back of the dish to fine tune the lnb-dish focal point alignment should be added as a final step. From a old thread If you are using the Triax TD110...

    Best receiver for fringe reception

Well I like the Manhattan XT-F receiver I own. Tuner appears to be very sensitive. At least in comparison to my aged Echostar ADP3000 and the Pace DS810XE I owned for a few months (extremely annoying user-interface / software and buggy) With clear skys I get lots of horizontal and vertical...

    living without money,possible?

Yes that and how he managed to produce enough food to feed himself for a year from his garden. Must be quick growing magic beans. Should be retitled how a smug middleclass self-righteous person lived off their family and friends for a year to show how idylic it is to be self-sufficient...

    Traditional vs Modified Elevation/Declination Angles

If my figures are correct it is more than 0.5 degrees difference at my latitude not less. The mount has markings in degree steps and it is relataively easy to set it up halfway between two markings for 0.5 degrees of accuracy. Besides I have a inclinometer from the days when traditional...

    Traditional vs Modified Elevation/Declination Angles

Since everyone else seems to rate the moteck sg2100 highly, I have decided to replace my failing moteck with a new one. Well to be honest it is because they can be had for so little money in comparison to other diseqc motors, at least if you shop around. Makes them kind of disposable if...

    DiSEqC Motors and Signal Loss

Well I tried it and you are quite right the DiSEqC motor needs to be connected to the whole cable including the outer braid. Although I do not understand why. I have found a few posts on an American satellite enthusiast site that detail a modification that can be made to a splitter which stops...

    My humble dish.

Yes the post is in a green composting plastic barrel. The pole is set into concrete as I filled with barrel with rubble and concrete. Being less than stellar at diy this had the advantage that I could make the pole perfectly plumb, by sticking slabs under the barrel. The view the dish gets of...
