i read everything and found the patch but can i apply the patch using the cable even though my reciever doesnt have ci slot

hi, I checked it and it doesnt have a slot(i mean there is one slot but it is blocked and in specs it doesnt say anything abt it).............if i dont have a slot can i still buy the cable and apply patches such as darkmans patch etc...
