Advice please on upgrading to Linux?

Totally agree with you, when we had d-2mac and cams etc, hobby'ists gave you xtra info free, part of the hobby died with them. put the plaza st out to grass, got a ip box 9000, talk about fun times, aint got the time or interest in c/s, there have been a few times when ive wanted to jump on the...

I wonder if anybody has been brave enough yet When you cycle sat name in blind scan its right for east and left for west, to do 10E go right if you go left you will crash the box Alternitivly if want to do eg 24.5W go left on sat name, if you go right you will crash the box, not a problem it...

    Blind scan, what blind scan

Have any of you had any luck with cuberevo/ip box 9000 blind scan when you are motorized, i have a ip box 9000 with latest cuberevo firmware on it, i am not bothered about c/s or enigma 2, a proper working blind scan would do. I have found in the antenna menu if you are set to motorized the...

    Thoughts on Manhattan Receivers?

The plaza st550 is allright, true the 36v side is a bit strange somtimes, the rest of the box works well enough. 36 volters are a bit thin on the ground these days. The old analogue manhattans were exellent, the 2500/5500 series were so so and the starlights were very good apart from the dreaded...

    Manhattan Starlight 6900/STB Editor Problem

I found the stb editor is good for two things 1. When updating the software you can save your currant channel lists/settings etc to a file and load back to the starlight afterwards. 2. you can make a file of tp/sat/channel lists etc yourself from scratch and load onto the stb Other than that its...

What Receiver would you recommend for SAT 3:00pm Premiership Football Games

You can buy a fortec or manhattan blind scanner, a scan through 16E or 10E on a saturday afternoon will find uk football, somtimes even with commentary.

Advice needed as I want to change my receiver

I will agree with that + the st550 has blind scan, bit slow at the start, but now they have improved it a lot with the latest software update,+ auto pid detection which appeared on the 2500 series at one time and is exellent, there is also a rumour of EMU aswell, dont know much more than that at...

Does size matter?. Dishes of course

Correct, with a 1.2m dish you will need as heavy duty tackle as you can afford, a proper polar mount and jack is the order of the day, or a really heavy duty h to h, anything less and the wind will make the dish into a good frisbee.

    New LNB, Feedhorn/Polarisor required

    * Dave, in the year 2000 i had a desicion to make, any digital receivers that can cater for a poloriser can only cater for mechanical ones, your set up like mine has a magnetic one, i thought i'll try a voltage switcher, as i had a different feedhorn by that time anyway, so i bought a cambridge...

    New LNB, Feedhorn/Polarisor required

That would work well, yes, this is what i use: The first pic is a channel master feedhorn, wich is now a bit more expensive now than when i got mine, the second pic is a c120 invacom, can be got really cheap if you shop around, the 3rd pic is another feedhorn that is much cheaper than the...
