Echostar AD3000ip (updated with V1100) Constant pixellation and some freezing. With The MR inserted together with a Conax CAM/**3 card there is break-up, take the MR out and everything's fine. So not working too good on my receiver, but the same CAM in Humax 5300 and Technomate 5500 is fine - so...

The Kiosk channels on 1W are the worst for quality as they are so highly compressed and pixellation on fast action scenes and jagged edges can be very annoying

With an official card only as it's in Irdeto2 which isn't cracked and provided you live within the footprint. If you're in the UK, I would say that reception is next to impossible as the satellite (68.5E) is very low on the horizon.

The Technisat has only one CI slot whereas the Echostar and Technomate have two. I'm biased towards Echostar as I have an AD3000ip, but a m8 got the TM5500CI recently and I was very impressed, although the remote is badly designed with very small buttons placed to close together

Apart from the mains voltage being different - 110V (US) and 230V (SA) - DirecTV is AFAIK encrypted in Nagravision and Multichoice is Irdeto2. So, yes, your existing equipment will be useless

Yes, I was going to mention the SECA2 hack on the Italian package BUT it's on Hotbird 13E not Astra 19.2E and depends if you have a Dragon CAM or Dreambox receiver

No D+ on 30W isn't going but a change to the unhacked Nagravision Aladin is expected soon - latest rumour is April. If it's only for a month though, you should be O.K. and anyway there's not much left at 19.2E

You are correct. To be able to view Conax encrypted channels (as long as the keys remain available - and new keys are being uploaded at the moment so it could all be gone by the weekend), you require any of the CAM's you mention. You will also need with a Conax or MR CAM a Titanium card...
