    Ipswich v Portsmouth - 3pm 7th Jan

They're setting up the scanner (outside my window) to transmit the game via satellite (10.04am) rather than the installed fibre. The link is going out with a company named 'SCC Live Satellite Links - 'Links 'n Things') I'm sure I've seen their name in SatcoDX and even had their transponder...

    Pictures of Members' Systems

How about this for a sh*t-hot assembly! Sadly it’s not a member’s setup, and I only wish I could claim it as mine – it does in fact belong to Anglia TV (or to be more precise Granada Media). The Anglia TV dish is a bit of a landmark in Norwich as it looks out over two sets of busy traffic...

    SIS Uplink vehicle

Hi Llew and everyone else... I'm quite lucky to live next door to a football stadium as their media compound is below my living room window. This picture is from a match a few weeks ago when Sky were televising using a truck from Scanners Outside Broadcast... which woke me up when it and about...

'Network ID' - for locating channels by uplink site?

I've been fiddling around with my Atlanta 9225, which seems to have a mind of its own. I used my Technomate receiver to point the dish at Hotbird 13E. I set the 9225 to 'Find a new service' and on each scan it found a different 'Network ID' which seems to only scan for channels by service...

The difference between Blind Scan & Auto Scan

I've taken to going to the various websites (Lyngsat etc...) listing all the transponders on a satellite and manually adding them to my Technomate... I found that the Auto Scan and Blind Scan features in it both appear to find only a very small list of transponders carrying 24/7 commercial TV...

Transponder scan is missing out channels

Thanks... I thought I may need a little more patience - I found a circuit identified as 'SLVERSTN F1' but in the time between finding it and switching back to view it had vanished! I have a theory for checking out if I'm doing it right by researching when things are likely to happen. BBC East...

Transponder scan is missing out channels

I’m a feedhunter having limited success. I use the SatcoDX website to get the transponder list for a satellite and manually add the transponders to my Technomate TM1000-CI (it took me a while to realise I needed to do that!!!). Here’s the FIRST problem, 95% of the transponders I program in...

Where are all the feeds, it's just black? MPEG 4:2:0?

Hiya - I had noticed the somewhat slow blind-scan on the TM-1000, having left it scanning for nearly two days only to find that it had frozen at about 20% through! Most interesting find so far has been colour bars idented with 'GLOBECAST NY', I Googled for Globecast's address in New York and...

Where are all the feeds, it's just black? MPEG 4:2:0?

:D I think I've got it! With a combination of SatcoDX and the various feeds websites people have directed me to I've found out how to manually add transponders to the Technomate... et voila! Empty studios... people waiting to go on air... reporters tidying their hair. It's great. One query...

Hi Gameboy... nice to see you've got a G5! We abandoned using Avid a while ago - I use Final Cut Pro HD Studio on a dual 2.7GHz G5.

Here's some larger shots of the monitoring area, this isn't its full time purpose... I'm a video editor during working hours, hence the various bits of broadcast kit. It just seemed wrong to have a flat roof, a whole load of sky and a racks room without a bloody big dish to complete the picture! T.

    Pictures of Members' Systems

Howde - Couldn't resist posting a picture of my monitoring area... having spent three days with a soldering iron and a bag of cable ties refitting it all! Pictured are Technomate TM1000-CI, Scientific Atlanta 9661 and 9225 PowerVu receivers, S*cam transcoder, JVC VHS recorders, Sony UVW-1400...

Where are all the feeds, it's just black? MPEG 4:2:0?

I've left the Technomate to 'auto-navigate-blind-scan' every satellite in its list - all polarisations and all transponders in detail. It has already found several channels on satellites way outside the arc I thought I was limited to. I can see why the installers didn't bother scanning...

Where are all the feeds, it's just black? MPEG 4:2:0?

Thanks for the advice, I'll give that a go. I got the 9225 on ebay a couple of years ago, without a manual, but soon realised it was a 'fit and forget' piece of installation kit and pretty rubbish for searching for feeds - it doesn't even steer a dish. I got the Technomate just to drive the dish...

Where are all the feeds, it's just black? MPEG 4:2:0?

Hi all, it's been a hell of a long time coming (and I eventually had to give up and get a professional installer to set the dish up) but my 120cm motorised system is now up and running. I am able to get most satellites from 42 degrees east to 30 degrees west. I bought all the kit so I could...
