Hmmm, so many options, this is not proving easy!
Of course, if I could find a genuine used DM500 I'd be happy with one of those (I very much subscribe to the "if it ain't broke" mentality) providing the woeful remote response is limited strictly to the fact that my box is a clone.
Dang it...
Thanks Captain Jack and Nano, the advice is appreciated. I'm loathe to spend a lot of money on something I mainly tinker with and use infrequently, but Nano, I do use CCCam, so I appreciate the heads up on that.
Best have a think what I want and have another look. It's looking like either a...
You're right, they're kinda getting on a bit now. I always lusted after a DM7020, but now I see they go for reasonable money. Played with an early clone of a DM800HD when they first came about but like most clones, that went pop after a comically short time.
I really am lost as to what to look...
Hi guys
For a long long time I've been campaigning what turned out to be a clone DM500 (was sold as genuine!) with various Gemini and recently OpenPLi images on 28.2/19.2 and occasionally running a local card (but mostly FTA).
I've put up with the dreadful response from the remote control for...
Where have you seen them for £16? I've just had to move my router from the living room to the study so this would save me running a cable between my DM500S
Well, it looks like it's a dish from a Comag Porty kit sold through Lidls. Fortunately it's not had that much use (although the three suction cup base is crap - I had it on the window and came back from the bog to the delightful sound of the dish rattling down the pitched roof outside my bedroom...
Does well considering its lashed up nature; just a shame the window cuts all signal to zero when it's closed. Oh well, it's summer, and I don't like being too hot so the window being open is no biggie :)
On the plus side though, I can now save up for a DM8000!
OK, so due to being another statistic and ending up loosing my house, I now find myself without my motorised system. The digs I'm staying in at the moment have a couldn't give a toss attitude, so thought I'd show what I'm using to keep the shares alive!
The receiver is a DM500S clone running...
I found a full install and script pack to use on another forum for Ubuntu 8.04. I'm currently running it on an Asus EeePC. When I first set it up, I felt cheated as it'd taken away half the learning curve so did it again by hand :D
More than 50 means you're running a serious pay server, which is going to get you into some serious trouble and not earn you any friends round here. In fact, I imagine my server sharing between five family members where we all cover the cost is frowned upon...
In my (admittedly limited, but backed up by posts on this forum) experience, the rights dates only get updated when they're close to expiring. What are your current dates?
That could well cost them. The market for HD boxes will only grow leading to potential lost sales; meanwhile the cloners will be waiting with baited breath :(
