Great :-applause, another thing to try with the arm put the thick end in the vice don't tighten it too tight are you will squash the pipe, put a screw driver through the hole where the bolt should go, and start turning it keep applying wd40/whatever you have

well done on the motor ... they are a bit of a fiddle :(
when the tube has had a good soak you could remove the retaining plug and check if the bearing is still good --- pics below geotrack 1.jpg geotrack 2.jpg

@blademedia

I will give it a go with the vice and some type of bar through the hole before I go on to soaking it.

@nelson_b

Thank you for the pictures, what type of slotted key did you use the remove the retaining plug?

Thx

Hi
I don,t have any special tool for removing the plug ... i just use a long punch or an old blunt screwdriver, and hammer ..... and tap it round/ unscrew from the side while its held firmly in the vice ... if its rusted in tight -- Wd40 and/ or warming the end of the tube with a decorators heat / stripper gun will help to loosen it ....

D, I posted your holder out yesterday you should have it tomorrow/Friday, you might have to alter the angle on the lugs for your dish,

I made the angle for my dish I forgot the precision arms come straight out as mine have a bend,

Put the holder on when you've extended the arms and loosely tighten the nuts, you will then see which way they need bending and by how much,

Put the lugs in the vice and gently bend them until you get the correct angle.

Update 3:

I have had a bit of luck, I placed the actuator in a vice and used some 12mm threaded rod as a tommy bar. After a few twists and turn the arm became released. I gave it a squirt of PlusGas down the arm sleeve and a few more twists and turns and it was reasonably loose. I connected it up to a v-box and did a few retraction/extension movements, cleaning the arm with each retraction/extension until I had it fully extended and retracted OK.

Just a quick tip for anyone taking one of these apart, dont forget to remove the magnetic wheel from the spindle before opening up the motor to get to the cogs. The magnetic wheel is attached to the biggest cog and it need to be kept in place when removing the wiring plate. If the magnetic wheel is still connected to this cog then some of the other cogs are lifted from their splines when the wiring plate is removed. Its easier to reassemble if you know which cogs go where but its fairly easy to work out how they line up.

Thanks, it might take a few attempts to get them right, move them a bit at a time, refit loosely check again and repeat if necessary, you need to get them correct are you could pull the dish out of shape, not trying to tell you how to suck eggs just want to make sure :),

Its been in the car foot well for a few days, I forgot all about it sorry, my wife was in the car yesterday and was wondering what was under her foot :-lol.

I dont know about expert, it was luck and good advice from forum members that got me there. It's a useful spare actuator to have, I presume its quite old and now that it's back operational I hope it will keep going for a few more years.

Yes please, the type of grease would be useful. I have a spray can of Soudal Lithium/PTFE grease but I am not sure if it would be the correct viscosity?

Thx

@blademedia

Thank you for the info re the EP-2 grease. One quick question, does the tube need to be placed in some type of special dispenser gun with a tip? I have a few DIY dispenser guns used for things such as silicone sealant and decoraters caulk etc.

Hi D, it should be fitted in a special gun, for applications we will use it for our fingers are good enough.
